Is anyone else having a hard time comprehending the fact it’s February already? Wow, where did January go? Today we once again join our fur-iends Rosy and her brothers from LLB in Our Backyard for this week’s edition of Nature Friday Blog Hop. I also want to take a moment to wish my baby brother a very happy birthday. Hope your day is extra terrific, Bro.
So on this first Friday in February, since so much of the country is gripped in a Polar Vortex of epic proportions, I figured let’s go back to the beach!
I could walk up and down the beach in Mexico a million times and still be enchanted with the scenery. Just looking at the golden sand, blue sky and foamy surf warms me up. Sure beats shoveling snow filled sidewalks, doesn’t it?
There is some very entertaining about catching a glimpse of pelicans whenever I’m at a beach location. I love that they always seem to be flashing a smile at you, especially just before they swoop in and filch a part of your lunch. This guys trailed the boat in hopes of a tossed fish and was amply rewarded for his aeronautics.
And what beach is complete without a catamaran or parasail? The colors themselves are enough to warm a winter soul, don’t you think?
Finally, as this little sculpture with his colorful painted surface suggests, the beach is just plain fun. We stumbled across an art gallery in Old Town Puerto Vallarta curated by a fellow from Corsica. He had relocated to Mexico over 30 years ago and loved the spirit of his adopted country. He was showing several of these dog-themed sculptures that were so charming. Who would love stuffing one in their bag for the trip home?
Hopefully these images warmed you up a bit. To our friends caught in the jaws of bitter cold, we’re thinking of you and hope you stay warm and safe. May your weekend warm up enough where you can get out and enjoy some nature with all the brightness of a sunny day. For me, I think it’s time to anticipate a tasty birthday toast for my brother. Cheers!
Live, love, bark! 🐾

Definitely my happy place! So much wonderful color on a gray day, thanks!!
After last week’s snow, we needed it too!
Thanks for the shot of 🌞
Love that miniature dog!
Happy Birthday to your Brother🎂🎉
There were several of those statutes that were similar that I fell in love with. So adorable, so colorful. Happy to provide a spot of sun for you.
I love that painted pooch! He’d have made a great Shelf Critter…
You’re right, he would be a terrific addition. What’s not to love…a fiery personality and all that fabulous South-of-the-Border color.
Fabulous shot of the pelican!
My owner Gail spent Christmas a couple of hours up the coast from Puerto Vallarta while I was stuck in a boarding kennel in Scotland. Sometimes life truly is not fair…
Dear Bertie, so sorry you weren’t able to appreciate the Puerto Vallarta area. So diverse with a rich culture. I really loved it and could see myself living there.
Ahhh. Makes me miss the beach already. The colorful dog is in the “play bow” position, inviting to play. I think his mom dressed him up funny for playing on the beach tho. Behr Behr 🙂
The beach is a wonderful place in which to gain clarity and peace. I half expected that little Chihuahua to bark at me. Thanks for swinging by the Ranch. We 💖 visitors!
Wells, it’s not cold here, butts those are FABulous pics that makes me wanna do beach zoomies! (as long as I don’t have to gets my furs wet! BOL)
I will have two margaritas please!!!!!
Two ‘Ritas coming up! 🍹🍹
As I type this a big old rainy winter storm is passing through the Rancho which suggests that in about three days or so you’ll get another dose of the white stuff and plenty of it if the rain here is any indicator. Max says he likes snow as long as it is in Colorado and he’s in California. The dog has no empathy or adventurous spirit at all.
Yup, that sounds about right from the forecasts I’ve seen. Bring. it. on!
Even though we are not getting the extreme cold we are more than ready for spring to get here. We really like the colorful sculpture
Hazel & Mabel
You know I actually saw a clump of daffodils popping up along our walk yesterday. Seems like a good sign to me!
We’ve had some cooooold mornings followed by warm afternoons, but we’ve had sunshine too – thankfully! – so it’s tolerable. But I certainly did enjoy the warm beach photos, thank you!!
My great pleasure. Selfishly, it reminded me of a wonderful trip and warmed my soul too. Happy weekend.
I can’t wait until Spring … though, yes, I can’t believe it’s February already!
I think the Groundhog said spring will be early this year. Let’s hope after all the cold delivered this week.
The penultimate looks like Kali on tranquilizers.
See, that’s what you can do on a nice day: Between 39 – 45C are not all that nice – really. A friend sent me the following a year ago:
Have a great weekend and long may your good days continue..
LOL, so true! Yeah, those kinds of temps are not my cup of tea.
Mom really enjoyed those “warm” photos after the week we have had!!!
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Excellent! Our work is done then. 😇
As a beach dweller I have to agree with you. Make mine a margarita.
🍹 Hope a digital one works for you. Happy weekend.
I turned it into an analog serving. Worked just fine.
Bwahaha! Brilliant, just freaking brilliant.
Thank you, we needed that!! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Glad to be able to share some digital warmth. Hope the weather begins to warm up in your neck of the woods.
It has dropped to 60 degrees here but a storm is movng in. Thanks for warm images.
I’m sure you guys were bundled up-it got to be in the mid-50’s here today-and just perfectly gorgeous.
The ice pictures in my FB feed have been very pretty. But I love the colors of the Mexican beach. Thanks for sharing them with us.
The ice photos have been mind blowing but I figured people could use some warm pics. Here’s to more color and more sun!
What a great post to warm us up, Monika.
Wish my toes were walking the sand, being tickled by the waves…
There is something so therapeutic about toes in sand skipping just out of the surf’s reach. In this case, I think it’s something for both of us to look forward to in a few months.
No kidding…. and come March 3, I shall sulk in my house as my sisters and mother go on a cruise. And I am stuck here because my damn house didn’t sell yet.
Sorry. Any chance it can sell before then?
Sure. But, yanno… since it’s not yet a done deal, I feel I can’t really leave for a week at that time. Swear, cuss, curse, blaspheme…
Ugh. We’ll be sending oodles of poodles good real estate luck your way.
I’ll take em, I’ll take ’em all!! xo
Pefect post for the coldest week of the year…er, well, in some places anyway 😉
Happy to bring a little visual warmth to peeps.
Really love that little dog statue. It’s always fun to see them in that pose. I felt a bit warmer just looking at your beach pics. 😁
Isn’t it cute? Hope the warmth last all weekend.
may your warm memories of a warm beach keep you safe! The painted dog is adorbs
Funny how a warm beach can brighten one’s mind. Happy weekend.
Ahh! Thanks for the nice warm trip back to the beach! 🙂 Now I am thirsty!
May a suggest a refreshing Sangria? Or Margarita.
Can you send it through the computer? 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 YUM!
And the best news, no calories, no hangover. 😇
LOL! That is true! Honestly I very rarely drink though I do like wine, with my body size it doesn’t take much at all to make me loopy. 🙂
Digital drinks are nothing if not safe.
LLB here is Liquor Licensing Board! Care to elaborate on your LLB??????
Living, Laughing and Barking.
Hmmm ……… now which one do I prefer? 🙂
Depends on your tastes. 🤣
Oh I wish I was some where’s warm.
I hope it warms up your way soon. Otherwise I expect to see photos of you in the whelping box cuddled up with mama and baby Chessies. 😍
Warm would be good. Glad you have recent memories of warm. We’re heading to the boat this weekend. Got to get her ready for a cruise next weekend. It’s all good.
Have a fabulous day and weekend and stay warm. ♥
Enjoy a weekend on the water.
There is nothing like the ocean. Walking along the beach, swimming in the ocean . . it is pure bliss. And it feels as if summer will never happen here in the Northeast, LOL. Frigid doesn’t even begin to tell the story. It’s frightening.
But to catamarans and sandy toes and Bloody Marys!
There is something very therapeutic about the beach. Wishing you oodles of poodles of sunshine and a few liquid beverages to celebrate warmer temps.
I had a tequila shot the other night for a friend’s birthday. Sunshine! And I’m not even a tequila fan, really. LOL
Good tequila (like an Anejo) can go down very smoothly. It’s like liquid sunshine! 😊
It truly was. I felt as if it was July for a few minutes time. Bliss.
Here’s to liquid sunshine and warmer temps! 🥃
Salud, por que la belleza sobra! 🍹
A belleza, cervezas y gente para compartir con!
I’ll happy sip that beer. Zum wohl! 🍺
that is like a balm on our frozen soul ;O))) happy weekend, stay warm and comfy ;O)
Thanks-you too. It will be in the 50’s till Wednesday when the next front blows in.
