The Mum: Oh come on, House Pony-it wasn’t that bad. But in order to get treats and attention from all your nurse friends, patients and visitors, the hospital requires each dog to receive a bath before visiting them.
Wilson: That may be the rule, but I still don’t like it. Although now that you mentioned it, everyone must have picked up on the abuse I suffered because there were LOTS of treats being dispensed and many “atta boy” ear rubs.
The Mum: Yes, I did notice that. I also noticed you tend to forget what you’re supposed to be doing and get a tad unfocused. Maybe next time don’t be such a pill in the tub and you can make folks happy and be well rewarded for it, eh?
Wilson: I’ll keep that in mind the next time, Mum. For starters, I sure did like meeting all the EMT’s buzzing around the Emergency Room. They know right where my ears like being rubbed.
The Mum: Well enough about all your abuse hard work, what kind of nature photos do you have to share with us?
Wilson: Well, I’m glad you asked, I’ve noticed the hydrangeas around the neighborhood are in full bloom. Boy, are they ever pretty, even if they don’t have much of a scent.
The Mum: Oh look, they have floofy heads like you do!
Wilson: By jolly, you know, you’re right, Mum. I hadn’t thought it until now. I’ll bet they really enjoyed the shower we received. I know you were practically giddy and raced outside to protect your fig plant. The rain came down hard fr several minutes and small hailstones also fell and I know how much you’ve been babying that guy.
The Mum: Well, it has a couple of baby figs growing that I didn’t want to lose, so yeah, I ran outside and moved it under the covered patio. It rained a little bit yesterday as well. Certainly not as hard but I’m sure that plant loved every nourishing drop of rain. You can water three, four times a day in the heat but a few drops of rain will give it everything it desires. It was as if overnight, new leaves emerged on it. You know I think I need to give it a name. Got any ideas on what to name it?
Wilson: Hmmm, how about Bob? He kinda looks like a Bob. {excited butt wiggling}
The Mum: Okay, Bob it is then. Well that’s about it from us. Wilson, Bob and I hope you all have a good weekend. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the folks in New Mexico and Texas after horrific flooding took place this week. Mother Nature is definitely on a rampage this summer but we still urge everyone to get outside to enjoy some of it. But be safe, will ya?
Wilson: Yes, please be safe and enjoy all the beauty nature shares with us this time of year. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to chase a squirrel or two.
The Mum: Wilson! Knock it off. Just tell folks to have a wonderful weekend.
Wilson: {sighing} Fine. Have a good weekend and if you just happen to see a squir…
The Mum: W-I-L-S-O-N!!! Enough with the squirrels. If you don’t behave, I’m going to have to put you in time out with NO TREATS. You got that, lad?
Wilson: {eek} Righto. Have a great weekend!
Live, love, bark! 🐾
Oh, you poor thing having to take a bath and smelling all good. How “awful”… LOL! You are a good sport, Wilson. 🙂
Yes, the hydrangeas are floofy like you. 😅 They are pretty flowers. Yay for the rain to make them grow but oh dear about your neighbor’s car!
Cheers to having a good weekend! 🍹🍹 Hope you both have a wonderful week to come!
I know, right? I should report Mum to the ASPCA for the cruelty to floofs. It’s a special category with greater punishment because we’re so pawsome. 🤣
Haha! Oh, yes, you are Pawsome indeed! But I know you would never report your Mum because she is pretty Awesome as well. 😉 even if she subjects you to the “horror” of baths. 😂
He thinks baths are the word that must not be spoken. You’d think he was Ron Weasley or something. LOL
🤣🤣
It’s always nice to have blooms coming out around the neighborhood. Thanks for sharing your walk.
Our pleasure, J.W.S. Thank you!
Java Bean: “Ayyy, the dreaded bath! I got one a month or two ago. You should have seen the sad face I pulled. And did it save me? No it did not!”
Lulu: “We could almost hear the rain in that picture. It has been a while since we got any of that stuff here. If we did, maybe it would help with the fires, which have been just crazy so far and it’s not even fire season yet …”
“Bath” is definitely one of those 4-letter words around the Ranch. It’s likely we wouldn’t do them every month if it wasn’t required by the hospital. Wilson keeps trying to negotiate the rule with no luck so far.
That rain burst was so lovely, but it only lasted about 5-8 minutes. We were mesmerized by the shaft of light flowing in while it was pouring. Here’s hoping you’ll receive some monsoonal moisture to help with the fires. 🤞🏼
I could see you didn’t like that bath, Wilson, but you look pretty snappy after you were all dried off. I’m guessing you hold a lot of water in the floof.
Thank you. It’s a long process to get the exterior and inner coats wet and equally long to dry him. Grooming a sheepdog is not for the faint of heart!
But the end result is one glamorous dog. Wilson, don’t let that go to your head.
Well now you are quite handsome when you’re all “fixed up” aren’t you Mr. House Pony! As for the weather – one thing we can’t change sadly and if we could it wouldn’t be so danged hot and so danged rainy to cause flooding!!!
Huggies, Teddy
Thanks, Teddy. You’re so right about the weather. I suspect these severe episodes are going to become the norm as we humans keep our head in the sand about climate change. We hope things calm down and you’re able to enjoy more pleasant temps.
Thank you for the buck moon history lesson.
We had never heard of it before. Guess that’s what happens when you live in the city. 😊
It looks like somebody was enjoying bath time! Pretty flowers too. Have a fabulous weeken Wilson and Mom!
Thanks Terry. Glad you enjoyed the flowers. We hope you have a pawsome weekend!
Those Hydrangeas sure are huge and like giant marshmallows!! We had a huge downpour here on Wednesday, there was almost 5 inches in our rain gauge! Not sure how accurate that thing is though, LOL! No flooding was seen, except where the ‘land lies low ,such as in some fields.
Sorry you need so many bath sessions, but well, t goes with what you love to do so you have to grin and bear it…
Have a great weekend!
As soon as we walked out of the dog wash, he had totally forgotten the whole thing. And he was so good around all the people we visited. I just wish I was better physically able to handle his bath anxiety. Hope you guys have a great weekend.
You look great. Have a wonderful weekend. XO
Thank you, Ellen. We have you have a great weekend too.
WILLLSSSOOONNN!!!!
Is so handsome, and newly bathed he looks like TWO million bucks now!
The showers came hard here every late afternoon and evening for several days with massive flooding the result. Not the catastrophic flooding that has been going on out west though. That is awful.
Temps? Still suck. And there’s not change in sight!
Let’s hope more more reasonable (and cool) showers in our future kids. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, Wilson is most chuffed you like his floofness.
I wasn’t expected the monsoons this month but I’ll take ’em. We’re. so. over. summer’s heat. 73 days and counting. 😉 Have a good weekend.
I love the floofness (good word). I’m ALL about the floofness.
Awful, and the temps just won’t budge. I set my weather to Celsius to feel cooler. I don’t. Feel cooler . . .
Hope your weekend is going well
Thanks, Marc. Yeah, the summer heat is just awful although I know we don’t have it as bad as some parts of the country and thank heavens we don’t have the humidity to go with the heat. Still the countdown is on…71 days until autumn officially arrives. Here’s to a great upcoming week.
P.S. Wilson says thanks for appreciating his floofness. Even if he hates the process getting there.
My God it’s just relentless. I look at the long range forecast and it reads like an NBA box score.
Haha! Handsome boy!
Eew…another reason to diss the NBA. As if we need one. 😉
I know right?
What a handsome boy you are Wilson. We understand the annoyance, but it sure looks like you were well paid!
Those hydrangeas are gorgeous too!!!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
It’s a good thing I’m a dog and don’t hold grudges. Especially when there are treats to make me forget how mean mum’s can be. LOL Have a safe and pawsome weekend!
You’re looking fabulous in all your post-bath floofness Wilson and the hydrangea look gorgeous too! Wishing you both a wonderful weekend and much love from the very hot and sunny Scottish Highlands ❤️ xxx
Many thanks, Xenia. I clean up pretty nicely, don’t I? 🤣 If only Mum didn’t have to use water to get me there. Have a great weekend.
Wilson, that shot with you and the hydrangeas is priceless. You all look terrific. Twiggy and Tempeste don’t like baths either. Tempeste does like to run in the rain, but get her in a tub and you can forget it. They would love to have you visit and take out a very noisy and arrogant squirrel who has been the bane of their existence.
Thanks, John. Sign me up for duty. I’ll rid your yard of any troublesome tree rats. No charge. 😉 Hope you all have a great weekend.
Nature was full of surprises (and some shockers) this week. 🙏🏼
The hydrangeas surely are putting on a show this month… at least they are happy about getting wet. 😀
Nature seems pretty irritated, that’s for sure.
I am just blown away by the beauty of the hydrangeas this year. They’re just fabulous. Have a terrific weekend.
Gramma had a huge tree fall down in her yard last weekend. Now we have to find someone to cut it up and haul it away. Luckily it missed her house. It is a bummer the one you are talking about landed on a car! Your hydrangeas look great. They are always so pretty and we love ours.
Thanks. Hydrangeas sure are pretty. I wonder if Mum could successfully grow them? She always gets sad whenever a tree falls down. It took a lifetime to grow tall and we need them more than ever to remove all the CO2 we pump into the atmosphere. Hope you guys can find someone to deal with your Gramma’s tree. Sure glad it didn’t hit her house. Have a terrific weekend.
Wilson, you’re so handsome after your bath! I remember a really bad July wind and hail storm in CO. Lost the leaves, flowers, and fruits/vegs of every plant in my yard.
Thank you, Lisa. He does clean up nicely, if only it wasn’t so much like steer wrestling! 🤣
When it’s as hot as it has been, that brief hail storm wasn’t much of a surprise. The heat really churns up the atmosphere and gives a lot of moisture so much dangerous energy. I was a bit surprised there didn’t shred leaves more. Have a great weekend!
pure climate change, dramatically hotter now than when we moved here 8 years ago.
what a handsome lad you are wilson, with your admirers. A fig! I’d love to grow food but it’s not easy here. We just lost another tree, the bark split down the center. Less shade than the poor to middlin’ shade we had
Oh no, so sorry you lost another tree. I fear the tree that lost the huge branch across the street last night may need to be removed. Those ornamental pears are notorious for branches breaking like that. While we haven’t had (yet) as many days 100 or higher, it seems like the consecutive days of 90 and higher seem more numerous. 73 days until the official arrival of autumn…we can’t wait.
P.S. Our fig is in a pot (as are the tomato plants and lettuce). The soil here is pretty crummy and while watering multiple times a day is a pain, the soil provides better produce and results. Hope you have a good weekend. Stay cool.
awww your fur is much more white than the fur of the hydrangeas.. well done… have a super weekend…
Thanks. And Mum didn’t even have to scrub much to whiten me up. Thank heavens. The bath was traumatic enough! Enjoy a fur-tastic weekend.
There should be a sort or tariff for Wilson abuse…..a bath equals a shed load of treats, for example……and for Wilson’s mum…you need a cattle creep to keep him in place in the bath!
Hahaha…don’t give that clever lad any ideas, especially when it involves treats. He’s a master at looking adorable to warrant them as it is. We had him anchored on both sides of the tub to keep him from hopping out. We hope your back is feeling better and you have a lovely weekend.
You look so handsome wet and dry. Especially love you in front of the hydrangeas. <3 Paulette
You look so handsome wet and dry. Especially love you by the hydrangeas. <3 Paulette
Aww, many thanks, Paulette. You’re too kind. Have a wonderful weekend.
FIGS! My Mommy LOVES those things!!! You look fabulous by the way! xo
Thanks, much, Carole. Mum received ‘Bob’ for Mother’s Day and she’s been babying it since it arrived. With 2 little figlets (that’s what she calls them) she’s over the moon with them. The gifter, her daughter, also received one at the same time but hers hasn’t fruited yet but she’s hopeful as she has a pretty green thumb. Have a great weekend!
Love the video of the rain/hail, whatever it was. We’ve had a lot of rain this week, and heat that stayed around the 90 degree mark, which is tolerable. But still thinking thoughts of fall.
Thanks, Mum turned a ‘Live’ image from her phone into a GIF-they take up less room than data hogging videos. 90’s are too hot for us even if ours is a dry heat. We prefer 60’s & 70’s for true comfort. Only 73 days until autumn officially arrives. Hallelujah! Have a good weekend.
We prefer 60s and 70’s as well, but will take low 90’s over 100 any day! But still too hot for anything for the puppers except potty breaks.
Hope temps begin to moderate soon before we all evaporate!
Amen, sister.
Oh wilson you are so handsome with the hydrangeas! And you are good with a bath too even if you aren’t pleased…chester doesn’t know it but he is getting a hose bath today since it’s so hot here! He does love water but like you not so much baths. We had squirrels trying to get us to let them in the house this morning. Chester said no way! Have a great weekend!!
Thank you. Us floofheads stick together well, don’t we? Good on Chester. Can’t give squirrels even an inch…they will take a mile if you do and swipe the brownies off your counter. We know that from experience when they broke into my Mum’s kitchen. Rotten bloody tree rats! Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Your fur-iend,
Wilson 🐾
I’m thinking of a trade, my 125-pound Labrador Casey for your sweetheart. Casey has kept me awake for two nights. I’m exhausted…
Yikes! Sorry about the missed sleep. Does Casey not like baths or was the lack of sleep from fireworks? Bathing Wilson is a lot like steer wrestling-the shop owner helped me anchor him on both sides of the tub as she was afraid he might jump out. Get some rest this weekend.
We have a daily visit from a squirrel on our deck every day. You would love him! He likes to moon the cats!
Ummm, love might not be the right adjective to describe how I feel about squirrels. And what an insult to the kitties. How dare he!!
Have a great weekend.
Your fur-iend,
Wilson 🐾
