Monday Musings ~ December 29, 2025

Monday smileWell, we’ve gone and done it…managed to survive 2025 (presuming we can get through the next two days but we’re trying to be optimistic). It was a bit touch and go there for a while but look what doggedness will do for you.

I’m personally not into the whole resolutions thing and Wilson seems to echo my sentiment telling me…and I’m quoting here…”None of this New Year/new me bollocks. Last year I was floofy and fabulous and this coming year I’ll be floofy and fabulous.” Period.

Well ok then…I guess he and I won’t be having that conversation reviewing/reiterating the house rules. Though I still will continue to try to enforce cajole the barking rule. Wish me luck.

Since we’re not party animals it’ll just be the Floof and me ringing in the new year. I personally will be taking a hard look at went well last year and reflect on how it lines up with my goals. None of that resolution thing but we will try to be hopeful for 2026 and hope however you ring in your new year, it’ll meet all your resolutions/expectations. Best wishes for safe and Happy New Year from the Ranch, erm…Barn. Happy Monday.

Monday smile

  1. All of us at the Golden K will be safe and tucked into our beds by 10:00 if we can make it that long. I am not a new year’s resolution guy. But as you suggest, we can always learn a little from some reflection.

‘We live a cyclical life. Every twelve months, we’re handed a natural moment to pause, reflect, and choose our next path with intention. The year’s end invites us to slow down just long enough to “hear ourselves think” and to reconnect with the purpose and priorities that matter most to us.’

I didn’t write that. I read it as part of a larger piece and it resonates with me.

Happy New Year to the Barn Bunch from the Golden K Pack! Wishing you all the best in the new year as you get settled into your new digs.

    Cheers!

    1. Thanks. Am very grateful for our friendship; here’s to more adventures and memories in the new year.

  2. Wishing you and sweet Wilson a peaceful Hogmanay Monika and a very happy and healthy New Year! 🐾❤️🎉 xxx

    1. Right back atcha, Xenia. Wishing you good health, happiness, and unforgettable moments in 2026.

  3. We think a quiet night re-watching the last of the Tolkien trilogy (the first 2 hae been watched in the past week), Return of the King, with the pups will be the best way to spend our NYE!

    1. Oh yes, with that choice, I’d have to agree with you! Here’s hoping 2026 is totally pawsome.

    1. Many thanks, John. We feel the same way about you. May your 2026 be completely ‘wagnificent’ and full of peace and good cheer. Loads of ear scritches for Twiggy and Tempeste.

  4. I’m the outlier. I actually do resolutions and I typically achieve them and am consequently hated for that by every one I tell, so let’s keep that between us, capisce? My short term goal is to make it past 8:30 on New Year’s Eve. Truth. The odds are looking about 50/50. Have a very happy celebration with Wilson and relax – you deserve some down time after the nightmare of relocation. How about dem ponies. eh? 🍷🍺🍸

    1. Good for you. Folks like you are the exception to the rule about resolutions but know your secret is safe with me. May 2026 be a good one for you and the little floofball.

I swear, those donkeys have managed to surprise me. And while they’ve moved, they’ll always be the San Diego Chargers and always loathed. 😈

    1. Resolutions hardly ever pan out or make it past Valentine’s Day. It seems like an exercise in futility. Goal setting is a better strategy. Either way, we wish you all a wonderful 2026!

  5. New Year resolutions? Not in this household, just a queue of dogs telling me what improvements in their diets they would prefer in the year to come – and probably preparing a list for the butcher as I type….

    1. Wilson aks what is the problem with that strategy. Wishing you and the Thug queue a delish and wagnificent 2026.

  6. A very happy new year to you and Wilson! I like cozy holidays at home too, lots of good food and drink included of course!

    1. That makes for the best holidays in my book! Here’s hoping 2026 is full of peace, joy and plenty of good food with drinks. Happy 2026, Lisa.

    1. Thanks, Dan.

There is, but it’s only because I have the thumbs in this partnership. Wishing you and yours a marvelous New Year.

  7. We’ll be home and snoring (well I won’t be but Teddy and David will!) when the big ball drops in Times Square. It really will be “just another year” unless some MAJOR stuff happens and I’m hopeful for a bit of that actually. I wish you and Wilson a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR……Teddy “seconds” my wish!!!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Thanks, Pam and Teddy. I never really got into watching the ball drop ceremony but a good movie…now you’re talking. Like you, I’m hopeful about 2026-we’ll just have to hope 2026 is an improvement over this year. Very best New Year wishes to you, David and Teddy!

  8. It’s gonna be me and the TV on the 31st… though I just got an email about a special dinner in a lovely restaurant that I really like. Still… how pathetic to take myself out alone on NYE? Gonna pass, after all.
Happy New Year to you and the Floof!

    1. Nothing wrong with taking yourself out whenever the mood (or opportunity strikes) but yeah, I completely understand. I’ll be right there with you (hopefully watching a good movie). Wishing you an amazing 2026! 🎉

  9. We don’t do resolutions either. Mom has goals for the year which we work on and do well at attaining normally. No parties here either on New Years. Paws crossed the moron behind us doesn’t do fireworks as Bailie doesn’t handle them well. Happy New Year to you two and good luck remembering to write 2026 the first weeks of the year.

    1. Ugh, I hate fireworks as well. I just don’t get why people have to set them off. Here’s to setting great goals and and accomplishing them in 2026. Happy New Year.

  10. Love the funny. I laughed out loud.

We don’t party either and sleep through the ringing in of the new year.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to Wilson. ♥

    1. Glad you enjoyed the funny, Sandee. And thanks for hooking us up on your blog link. As for that ringing in the new year, I prefer a good movie and never watch the ball dropping. Wishing you and yours a ‘wagnificent’ 2026.
