~ Tails Around the Ranch

Today is Friday but it is also a special someone’s birthday. Eleven years ago on a Friday, a special pup was born and that special pup would be Sam, my very own Friday’s child. Do you remember that children’s fortune-telling rhyme, Monday’s Child that helped you remember the days of the week? In the modern version, Friday’s child was “loving and giving” and sometimes described as “working hard for a living.” Both lines define this sweet dog completely. He gives his all every day, both at home and whenever he’s working as a therapy dog. Sam is also a Libra and if you know your astrological signs, you know that…

  • Libras tend to be cooperative, diplomatic, gracious, fair-minded, and social.
  • Libras like harmony, gentleness, sharing with others and the outdoors. And finally…
  • Libras dislike violence, injustice, loudmouths, and conformity.

Check, check and check. Each of those traits fit this goofball knucklehead who constantly makes me smile at his antics. I can’t think of another dog who’s quite like him. He is completely loving and gives his heart to everyone he meets. Every day. Yup, that’s totally my boy.

Happy 11th birthday, Sam! This goofy dog who adores everyone he encounters simply lights up my life and fills my heart with such joy and love. I love you buddy and wish you loads of treats and all the ear scratches you can handle, today and everyday.

  1. Sand Spring Chesapeakes – Cambria, WI – My husband and I have six "furry" children Gambler, Glory, Guilty, Slammer, Gertie and one cat Bones and two furangel's Norman and Nellie. We breed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. We are both avid hunters. We also enjoy competing with our dogs in hunt tests and field trials. That is where you can find us during the trial months which are April-September. When were not at a trial we are busy training our dogs. We go snow goose hunting in Canada each year and do all the hunting that Wisconsin offers.
