Monday Moanings

Well that was an interesting few days, weather-wise! Did you survive with furnace and utilities all in tact? Wow, talk about some extreme conditions. Hope everyone made it safely through with sufficient tomato soup, grilled cheese with a warm fire for effect. While I don’t have a fireplace, we did manage to persevere. Did some online reading and came across this cartoon.Could it be any more ‘right on?’

How did you handle the weather this past weekend?

Live, love, bark! <3

  1. We love the frigid cold and snow. Actually, this January has been disappointing as we have had a lot of warm days which we do not like around here. We want to keep cold and snow all winter long. We may be the odd ducks, but we are happy ducks.

  5. Perfect cartoon and sums up January for me nicely. I’ll gladly take the snow, sleet, cold during the Holidays but come January 2 I’m pretty much over winter. Unfortunately that’s when it starts here!

Here too! The only good thing about January and winter is February is right behind and it’s a short month! LOL

  10. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m so glad to meet you!

Last week, winter did seem almost magical with light fluffy powder and crystal-cold air. Then, even up here at 8200′, it rained today. I don’t remember rain in January in all our time here. Now those 2+’ of snow are heavy slush. Ugh. “Monday Moanings” is a perfect title for today!

That ‘beigey’ blob a few feet in front of the door is Sam, just left of the other beige blob by the front porch, a terra cotta planter. Water colors make details hard to differentiate some shapes. Elsa wouldn’t cooperate and stay while I took the picture so she had to go back inside. Little stinker. Ah…”cheese toasties,” I like that. Great week . Four days of a heatwave with temperatures 40c(ish) followed by three days of almost continual rain . 25. CC – Cristina is Italian born, and though she has lived most of her life all over the U.S. she considers herself Italian...she just can't speak it very well! As with many other things, she is working on that (although it's a bit harder the older she gets). Still, there are just so many hours in a day. After leaving the lovely climes of Southern California she went to the heat, humidity, and insect-infested state of Alabama. She struggled for five years to be a "big girl" amidst the crickets-on-steroids, the snakes, scorpions, and other creepy crawlers of the day (and night!). It really is true what they say; "It's a jungle out there!" After another stint in Northern Virginia she is trying once again to find a new normal (as well as some bliss) in her new state, Florida. Cristina is happily married to a loving husband and has two grown children. Her medium-standard poodle love crossed the rainbow bridge in 2023 but he remains forever in her heart.
    Cristina Crawford says:

Ok. Yes…I did cave on asking for space heaters since our furnace part wouldn’t be available until this week. Notwithstanding worrying about frozen pipes, 12 Degrees outside makes for a chilly bathroom experience inside! And crazy as it seems, by the end of the week we are supposed to see temps in the 60’s! Happy Monday.
