Today is Memorial Day in the U.S., a national holiday where we remember all those who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. Originally known as Decoration Day after the Civil War when Union and Confederate soldiers honored their dead by decorating their graves with flowers, it has morphed into its current form honoring all Americans who have served.
Today is also the ‘unofficial’ beginning of summer but it will be a quiet day of reflection at the Ranch, especially given the challenging times here and around the world. Today we will honor those in our family currently serving their country as well as all those who have served in the past and are also grateful to all the 4-legged who have served with distinction.
Have a safe and happy holiday.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
Beautiful photo.

Your post is just wonderful! LOVE BOTH of the photos but especially your babies! Hoping you had a wonderful holiday!
Both photos are beautiful. ♥
Thank you! 🇺🇸
To freedom and furry friends!
I can wholeheartedly for cheer that! 🍺
🙂
Sam looks so serious … and Elsa’s hamming it up as usual! It’s a gift to get both sides … sometimes when things are out of control, the only thing you can do is laugh!
Sam is serious when it comes to his ‘pawtriotism.’ Elsa is a Ninja-what can I say?
Hope you got the most from your reflective day with family. BTW, Sam has a better serious pose than Elsa. Or was she just hot? 🙂
Ninja’s never share a tell. 😉
Awesome post sweet friends – very lovely!! XOXO – Bacon
Thanks, Bacon. We take Memorial Day seriously when we stop to think what was done on our behalf. Hope your day was spent enjoyably.
We do the same here as well. It was a great day. Mom/dad went to the cemetery for visits. XOXO – Bacon
Gold star for you guys ⭐️
Oh, that was such a beautiful tribute!!! Thank you guys! And you look most distinguished in that photo, btw! HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Thanks Ruby. It’s an honor for us to wear the red, white and blue to honor veterans, both canine and upright.
You look so patriotic today! We join you in thinking of all our service members past and present
hugs

We try to be respectful and pawtriotic for Memorial Day and not our usual goofball selves.
Yes, we all should be grateful to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could have the freedoms we enjoy today.
Absolutely. And grateful every. single. day.
Yes! Not just one day a year!
👍🏻
You pups did a great job honoring our veterans who gave it all up for our freedom!
Keep Calm & Bark On!
Murphy & Stanley
We are grateful for their service and our freedom because of it every day. 🇺🇸
We are grateful to all who have served and sacrificed so we can enjoy our holidays. ♥
We all have much freedom to be grateful for from those who serve.🇺🇸
Drill Instructor Sam tells Elsa, “Show me your war face.” But Elsa doesn’t have one of those.
Ninja’s never show their ‘face.’
Two very patriotic pups!!! Happy Memorial Day – we join you in honoring our heroes.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
We try our best. 🇺🇸
Lovely pic of your two proud pawtriots!
Pawtriots! LOVE it!
Happy, happy memorial day cuties <3
All of you, have a good and safe day!
Sam and Elsa, you do a wonderful job of reminding all of us to honor our country’s fallen services members on this solemn day. It is with thanks to the brave – fallen and still with us – that this is still the land of the free. Freedom must ever be entwined with responsibility; a truth that many today are challenged by. I always thank anyone in the uniforms of our armed services for their service. It’s the very least I can do.
I couldn’t have said it better 🇺🇸

Great photo of your 8 legged Memorial Day crew.
Thanks, Michael. May today be a peaceful and reflective day around your Golden hills.
Sam I Am looks so very serious. He must know the origin of this holiday. An uncle I never knew died very young in WW II. I do miss being able to place flowers on my families’ graves today. We live about 600 miles from the cemetery. The cemetery does it for me, but it’s just not the same. Hoping you have a restful day.
This is my most respectful and patriotic pose. Wishing you a peaceful day.
Your fur-iend,
Sam🐾
