Monday Musings ~ August 12, 2019

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a terrific weekend. We were busy at the Ranch putting the final touches on the new BarkBook making it ready for downloading in the shop. To wet your good pup’s taste buds, here’s a sample of some of the delicious (and easy to make) treats from it.

🦴 Cheesy Applesauce Bites

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/3 cup applesauce

1/3 cup water

1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/cup oatmeal

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375º F.  Combine cheddar, applesauce and water in a small bowl. Combine flour and oatmeal in a large bowl. Blend cheese-applesauce mixture into the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Knead into a dough and turn onto a floured surface. Roll dough to 1/4-1/2” thickness and sprinkle with Parmesan. Cut with cookie cutters (or use a pizza cutter and cut into small squares). Place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 20 mins. (longer if biscuits are thicker).

Store in an air-tight container in refrigerator and consume in 1 week or freeze for up to 3 weeks.

And because every Monday should start out with a smile, how about a little poodle food to remind you to smile and eat your veggies? Happy Monday.

    1. Bwahaha! Oh Ruby, I’m not sure how’s funnier…you or your Ma! There’s enough cheese I think to not be too picky. Just saying.

    1. Sending oodles of poodles of baking energy to your mum so she’ll make some of these tasty treats for you guys. 🦴

  2. the poodle food did make me smile – thanks.

Are any of the recipes in your upcoming book vegan? just wondering as my pups are I didn’t know if there was anything there that I could make for them. Thanks.

    1. Since I’m a vegetarian myself and never have meat in the house so I adapt everything for my pantry. There is one recipe in ‘pawticular’ (a mini muffin sized quiche) that shows my adaptation. Thanks for swinging by the Ranch; we 💙 visitors.

  3. Ha…poodle food, we love it! Sounds like the book will be great based on that recipe; Luke thinks all that cheese is an awesome idea. 🙂

  4. Awww, that’s the cutest thing I’ve seen all day. Those veggie pups are adorable. The likeness is amazing.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday. My best to your mom. ♥

  5. Of course, the recipe sounds delicious! Cheese and then cheese. How can you go wrong?? The broccoli poodles made us LOL and BOL. Awesome! Plus it sure beats actually EATING broccoli. *cough cough*

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

    1. You crack me up, Cupcake. Remember, veggies are good for you. Even in small doses.

  6. Those veggie poodles are really cute. The cookies sound like something my dog would like, but I don’t have an oven right now.

    1. We hope you are able to make them soon. Dogs go bananas over the cheese and the applesauce is a good source of fiber. Hope there’s an oven in your future soon.

  7. did you eat one? they sound like crackers I’d like, or I would if I read those ingredients on the box!

    1. And to your posse as well. I’ll be interested in your experience and if Zeke likes them as much as the Knuckleheads.

            1. Snorf! They are shameless sometimes, aren’t they? But ever so adorable about it.
