Monday Musings ~ January 11, 2021

Welcome to Monday. The laptop’s back up and running now and we thought this smile was a clever way to let you know we’re back. While we read everyone’s posts from last week, we left next to no comments. My hat’s off to millennials who easily manage life typing on a tiny little phone screen. Alas I’d make a lousy millennial since it became clear quickly that leaving comments from the phone was an exercise in futility and frustration. But we’re back, I’m smiling and the small storm that blew through over the weekend allowed us some ‘dashing through the snow’ time so the dogs (well at least Elsa) were happy too. Norman remains in the “Yeah, I can hold it” camp but he still manages to leave significant amounts of yellow posts nonetheless whenever we ventured out. Talk about a weather wuss.

Smiles

We hope your privacy settings are well respected this week and it turns out to be a good one. It’s ‘crisp’ this morning, (19ºF at 8:30 local time) but should hit the mid 40’s later today with low 60’s by Wednesday. Woohoo…60’s in January folks! We’ll take it. Have a great Monday and even greater week.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. You have the “blinker” problem in Denver – same as we do here. Very interesting. I do not like extender leads mainly for the reasons you outlined. I think they are dangerous and you can very quickly get into trouble.

    1. Those leashes really push my buttons. Sam got clotheslined to the point where he was rashes by the darn things but 3 unruly Scotties running all around him to the point he was hogtied around his legs. The marks looked almost like a nasty road rash. 😡

  2. Computers are so much better than phones for creating blog posts! I’m a millennial and I completely agree. Although I have probably written 100,000s of words in notes on phones (mainly shopping lists 😂) so I suppose I’ve had practice! Great comic picture

    1. Thanks. It’s reassuring whenever a millennial agrees with me. I’m a bit sensitive to the “ok, Boomer” mantra. LOL

  3. I don’t see how anyone can type on those itty bitty phones……I am pretty much ALWAYS at the PC and rarely use my laptop – when I do use it, I find the smaller keyboard “difficult”. Oh well – we all get by one way or another right? I love love love the cartoon. Totally hilarious!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. That cartoon seemed timely, given the laptop was being serviced. It took a while until I got the hang of working on a laptop but now can’t imagine anything else. It’s portability is too much of a draw to go back to a PC. Plus I can always put it in a drawer out of the way. Nice clean look that I can mess up with art supplies. LOL

    1. It’s yet another exercise in frustration and I’m trying hard to minimize those kinds of things whenever I can.

    1. Yeah, those little screens coupled with that horrid Siri…rewriting your best intentions. Ugh.

  4. Love the new painting. Glad you are connected once again!
Norman is British. Such a wuss 😉
I have managed to write a post on the phone… course, it was when I was working the canteen and tired of counting the time between hums and clicks but ugh. Not fun.

  5. Mom has tried to do comments from both her phone and her iPad but gets nothing but frustrated. Thank dogness she has that computer. Norman doesn’t like the snow???? What is wrong with that boy???

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    1. Good question. Luckily he’s darn cute and even more sweet to make up for it. 🥰

Still haven’t figured out why cell phones, iPads and computers/laptops all look and act differently. Go figure.

  6. LadyMew sayss “SAME HERE!!” Shee tried to do an email on a tabbylet an it took an hour to type 2 liness. Shee said Laptop or nothin! Thanxfullee MacGyver Mike fixed Lady Davina an wee online….
    Yore cartoon iss heelareeus!
    **purrss** BellaDharma an ((huggiess)) LadyMew

    1. Glad you’re up and running! It’s agonizing to try to do computer work on a cell phone or iPad. Makes me want to pull my hair out!

  7. Welcome back. Yes, I do have a smart phone but it’s a phone not a laptop. If I have to type a message on it I use a stylus. Weather here has been a bit on the warm side – 38c, 36c, 40c 40c..43c I guess summer has finally arrived. Glad you are all back – safe and well.

    1. Thanks, it feels good to get back into the regular routine. With all the things I’m constantly juggling (dogs leashes, doody bags, mittens or thick gloves) I’d lose a stylus in a heartbeat. Guess there are some downsides to multi-tasking. 😆

    1. Lucy and Norman must be related. He is most reluctant when it comes to being out in it. Elsa on the other hand is joy personified.

        1. At my age, I can relate to the newness of snow losing some of its luster after years of sidewalk shoveling. 😂

  8. I hate using even my tablet to make comments. Give the laptop any day!! And um.,..well I do not have a smart phone! LOL! Yup, I am ancident and old fashioned, too:)

Glad you got yours fixed and I sure had a good giggle from the ‘funny’!

    1. Oh yes, tablets and iPads are another whole ball of wax…we won’t even go there. Smart phones are great for a lot of things and I enjoy and use mine loads, but reading blogs and making comments ain’t in that category! 😇

  9. Your funny made me LOL. We’ve been getting some very wet snow today, but the ground’s still too warm for it to stick. Not unheard of here in January. Glad your computer is back working, it takes me a long time to comment on a phone, too. And how do they do that thumbs only typing thing?

    1. Thumbs only is one thing, typing anything meaningful on a phone without typos is something else. And not in a good way! Enjoy the wet snow. I’m hoping mother nature delivers on the weekend forecast for another storm. 🤞🏼

    1. You’re too smart (and clever) Lulu. Norman would totally agree with you. Elsa just wants to bounce and eat snow.

    1. I wish I could do it effectively (as in without typos-I make enough on the laptop!). It takes longer to fix my typos than if I just open up the laptop.

    1. Oh thank goodness. The old saying ‘misery loves company’ is definitely true in this case. 🙃

    1. So agree with you, Helen. I was practically giddy with joy when I went to pick it up. Even drove to the shop during evening rush hour which is something I normally would avoid like the plague. That’s how much I value having it back!

  10. Yay on your computer being back! I never thought I would learn how to type a post on a little screen but. ..I did. I do still prefer the computer though and totally understand you not liking it!
    Haha on the comic! 🙂
Wishing you a wonderful week too! I would love 60 degrees right now!

    1. Doing a simple post on the phone isn’t horrible but typing any meaningful comments on someone else’s blog is mind-numbingly frustrating. Still it’s better all around on with the laptop. 😊
