Monday Musings ~ December 30, 2024

Today is the last Monday of 2024 and as we prepared to close the door on the year, we are reminded of the pets who have departed. Many thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for sharing her lovely badge acknowledging this day.

Pet Remembrance Day

We think of our own Angels every day but especially today and send tender thoughts of comfort to all who have lost a beloved pet. Till we meet again, Norman, Sam, Puck, and Eliot. I love and miss you.

Ranch Hands

And even as we recall past pets who brought immense joy to our hearts,  Monday just isn’t Monday around the Ranch without a smile and given the time of year, this one seemed definitely appropriate. Whether you make annual New Year’s resolutions or set actual goals with a definitive plan to achieving them, we hope you’re resolved to start out the day with a smile.

Monday Smile

Live, love, bark!  🐾

  1. Lulu: “There are pictures of all our angels in the hallway, plus a few more of Dennis and Tucker in the other room, and of course all of their little boxes are in the china cabinet.”
Chaplin: “Mama and Dada like to have everyone here together, even if some of our brothers and sisters can’t be seen anymore …”

    1. We totally understand, we’ve got a few boxes of our own. But all our past pets still live in my heart.

    1. And that can mean all the difference in the world to our heavy hearts. Gone, but certainly never forgotten. ❤️‍🩹

    1. Thanks, Frank. Your guys played better. Plain and simple. I think the Broncos peaked a tad too soon. They’ve not looked good the past couple of games. Course, considering what they did last year, it could be considered a positive outcome for the season. Good luck in the playoffs, Cincy.

            1. I expect KC to give the Broncos a serious shellacking. They haven’t played well this year, except when it especially counted. 😉 As in all those where they squeaked by. I think Mahomes has managed to get in the heads of many opponents.

    1. Thanks, Dan. They stay in our hearts, especially those special pets. Sending loads of good wishes for a ‘wagnificent’ 2025.

    1. Many thanks, Terry. Yes, our heart is full of special memories of our precious angels. Best wishes for a terrific 2025.

    1. Exactly! Besides, we all know Elsa’ propensities for eating the unusual. 🤣 Happy New Year, Eliza.

  2. The curse of humankind is that their pets don’t live long enough. A lovely badge. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think of one of my babies who have gone before me. Wishing you, Wilson, and Elsa a very Happy New Year.

    1. It truly is a curse. They still reside in my heart for which I am grateful. Not a day goes by I don’t think of them all. Wishing you and the kidlets a Happy 2025, John.

    1. Thanks, Duke and thanks for swinging by. We 💙 visitors. It’s rare anyone keeps New Year’s resolutions. We think only setting achievable goals will work toward making changes. Here’s to a pawsome 2025!

  3. Thank you, Monica. I held Norman close in my heart though we’d never touched paws … and wish I’d had the privilege to know your other angels. May they all be resting happily, peacefully now ~ actually, I’m sure they are!

    1. Thank you, Ann. Norman was special. Sam was a complete knucklehead but the sweetest dog ever. He was a natural when it came to their mental health patients and taught me a lot about relating to those folks. ❤️‍🩹 Wishing you and June a very ‘cat-astic’ 2025.

  4. Our fur babies never stay long enough ~ feel blessed to have had them ~ hugs,

Lovely post and photos ~ thanks,

Happy New Year to you and family,

Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

    1. They sure don’t. Thank you for swinging by the Ranch and leaving a comment. We 💙 visitors. Here’s to a pawsome New Year.

  5. I spend New Year’s Day looking back on what I have done and would like to do in the New Year where my writing and blogging is concerned but no longer make resolutions. I still choke up seeing photos of my previous cats. I hope you have a shiny New 2025 Year!. My cats Freddie and Tish send their sincerest meows for a wonderful new year to all the wonderful furry family members at the ranch,

    1. Thank you-we like your approach. It makes more sense than just pie in the sky notions that resolutions tend to be. Elsa & Wilson send their best meowy wishes for a pawsome 2025 to you, Freddie & Tish. 😻

    1. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. It’s good to find a scapegoat, erm scapedog as the case may be. LOL

  6. I also do not do New Year’s resolutions. But this year, like you, I have a list of specific things to accomplish during 2025. I guess one could argue those are resolutions. But they aren’t. For me it’s a task list of things to focus on and to accomplish. Meanwhile, thanks as always for the Monday chuckle. As they say another trip around the sun is in the books. And when we travel around the sun it’s best done with a dog or two by your side. And for that I am very grateful. HNY M to you and the ranch hands. May you find 2025 filled with joy, happiness, and prosperity. As Ringo says, “Peace and love”. ✌️

    1. Right back atcha, Michael. I’m with you on the resolution thing. Resolutions are always short lived. Goals help us accomplish what we really need/want to enrich our lives.

  7. I used to make new year resolutions but I think I’m pretty darn settled in my ways at this point in my life so I always just say to myself as I drink my sip of champagne on NY Eve “be kind, be loving, be happy in the new year” ….. I hope we ALL get a happy new year.

    Love, Pam (and Teddy too)

    1. “Be kind, be loving, be happy in the new year.” Good advice and I’d only add, stay upright. 😊

  8. So many babies that have left us, but we mourn them forever. Beautiful.

    Love the funny.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to the pups. ♥

    1. Thanks, Sandee. Indeed those pets are always are in our hearts even when they’ve cross the Rainbow Bridge. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. Have a pawsome last week of 2024!

  9. So true dear Monika, our four-legged friends are family and they will be forever in our hearts ❤ Wishing you a blessed start to the New Year and much love to you, Elsa and Wilson from all of us here too 🤗💖💫 xxx

    1. Many thanks, Xenia. We keep them close to our hearts no matter what. Blessings for a “pawsome” 2025.

  10. A sweet post, Monika. I shall add Zeke’s name to the list of those furry friends we have lost.
Happy Monday. To hell with resolutions!

    1. Sweet Zeke. Tender thoughts of your handsome boy. Couldn’t agree more on the setting of resolutions. Goals are a better way to accomplish things.

  11. Precious, precious Norman and Sam. What dear, precious pups they were and hopefully, are together playing somewhere else. I know they will reside in your heart forever.

    1. Thanks, Amy. I’m convinced that losing a pet therapy dog is harder because of all the intense experiences you’ve shared during visits with staff and patients. People still comment on Norman’s passing whenever they see Wilson and the older staff members fondly recall Sam. The loss seems even more pronounced yet there’s an element of pride knowing they made such a difference for others. ❤️‍🩹

        1. All three of my therapy dogs were (are) different and it’s not fair to compare them to each other. They all had their own unique spin on bringing comfort to the folks they visited for which I’ll forever be grateful.

          1. That’s good to know..Chia, surprisingly enough, is our comfort dog. Xena gets scared when I cough too hard, LOL! Lucy would never make it through wheel chairs. Chia has stayed right with me these past 2 weeks while I had the flu.

              1. I am, but Jeff had a relapse. Aghh! We still went up to Columbus OH for our NYE dance. We figured getting away for a while would be good, no matter, and I think it has been.

                1. Good for you. Sometimes a new setting is just what the doctor ordered. Hoping Jeff is feeling better so he can dance the night away with his favorite girl. 😊

  12. What a good idea to remember the friends we lost. My love kitty milo passed a few weeks ago and it’s still tough but remembering all of them helps. Happy 2025!

    1. Oh gosh, I’m so sorry. It’s always hard to lose a beloved pet but seems even more difficult when it happens around the holidays. Sending you extra tender thoughts of comfort.

  13. No resolutions here. We all set goals and we achieve them. Mom misses all her furry ones who have passed but Madison is still so very fresh and painful. One day her memory will too bring smiles and not tears.

    1. Like you, we’re not into resolutions but will create goals we wish to accomplish around the Ranch. The cartoon did make us smile about them though. We hope for the day of more smiles comes soon for you. I still tear up when thinking of dear Norman and it’s been well over a year. Have a good Monday.

  14. Long given up on New Year resolutions…I just wish I could have my old doggy friends back again for a cuddle.
