Happy Monday, peeps! Now that the holidays are over, winter seems to be in full swing with snow and cold temperatures. Our weather forecast calls for a warming trend and we’re good with that. With Elsa’s aging joints and Wilson’s attitude about snow, we’re looking forward to blue skies without the ‘lace-woven ice’ Nature so kindly provided us with last week. The snow that did fall here is 96% melted and was only about 4-5 inches deep.

Over the weekend one of our Instagram followers surprised us with a Gotcha Day gift for Wilson. Can we just say how cool was that? Thank you, Barkland Bakery, a local family business. We loved your treats and will look for you at various events when you come back to town. You can follow them on their Facebook or Instagram pages. Having once launched a dog treat business myself, I am impressed that Barkland produces small batches of tasty treats that have no artificial additives and zero preservatives. The fact they made a personalized Gotcha Day biscuit for Wilson was so unexpected and appreciated. Wilson thought the peanut butter flavor is the bomb and Elsa was thrilled to get in on the treat action. Thank you, Becky for the treats and speedy delivery. Wilson and Elsa both think your taste taster, Kylo, deserves a raise. Barkland’s next event is the Winter Farmers Market this Saturday at the Foothills Mall in Fort Collins from 10-2pm. Keep your eyes open for this up and coming local pet treat company around the metro area and follow them on social media to see when they’re near you.
Before we get busy with the week, we ask you to keep all those impacted by the LA wildfires in your thoughts and prayers. If you are able to help, please consider making a donation to reputable groups who are help pets and people who have been impacted. Watch out for scammers. Happy Monday.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
You’re one Lucky fellow, Wilson, you have your own treats with your name on it. Happy Gotcha Day sweet boy🎉🎉Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of you and some Extra for effurryone who is affected by the wildfires. They’re so scary🐾😽💞
Thanks for the Gotcha Day wishes. You’re so right, we are so lucky. We continue to keep everyone affected by the wildfires in our thoughts and prayers, especially all the animals.
Lulu: “We’ve seen online that snowflakes like to attack in gangs. I kind of wish they would try it on me so I could show them who’s boss.”
Aww, sweet Lulu…we all know you’d kill ’em with kindness. 💙
It sure felt like they were ganging up on us last week when we got 8 inches one day, and another 4 later in the week. It shouldn’t have been as catastrophic as it was. Ellie and I traveled to Illinois (similar snow) and the roads were clear, where Missouri just couldn’t get their stuff together. We were stuck until it got above freezing and it started to melt!
Oh dear, sorry to hear that. When I picked Wilson up last January, I was impressed with the major areas around Kansas City, Missouri managed the roads. Those kinds of severe conditions scare me. I consider myself a fairly competent driver but people tend to think just because they have an SUV they can drive like maniacs. Too bad ice is a great equalizer and requires a different set of skills. Can’t fathom what you’re going through with her treatment and will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Stay well and safe.
WOWZERS Wilson – what delish looking treats!!! Lucky you!
Hugs, Teddy
Thanks, Teddy. We’re truly blessed by very kind well-wishers that made his Gotcha Day extra special.
Our lace is in a never-ending manufacturing mode these last few days and into the next few as well. then the murdering phase will arrive. Argh! The roads were quite treacherous on Sunday night on my way home from work, very icy! I was glad for the salt truck ahead of me…
How sweet of that treat business to send you a very special treat, Wilson! And a whole bag for you to share! (We hope!)
I have to do the pee-tio work here a lot, Dalton would disappear otherwise! I actually need to call it a poop-tio!…cause these areas become full of poopsicles, BOL!
Wasn’t that something else? We were so surprised. It’s always extra special when someone does something so nice and unexpected. Poopsicles…hahahahaha. Too funny. Here’s hoping the lace gets less difficult. And if it doesn’t, we hope you are able to follow the salt truck safely getting back home.
Funny about snowflakes. 🙂
I know, right? Who’d have thought a congregation of snowflakes was similar to a group of crows. 😉
Lace woven ice my @$$. LOL.
It sure is pretty to look at, in movies . . .
Happy Gotcha Day to Wilson and kudos to the good peeps who helped with the celebration! And kudos to you mama for keeping our thoughts with the folks who need them right now.
Thanks for the Gotcha Day wishes. Getting the message from Barkland about wanting to send treats for his Gotcha Day reminded me there are still some wonderful peeps out there to nourish my weary heart.
I laughed out loud with that fabulous description of snowflakes. Talk about the glass being half full. It reminded me of some of the fabulous descriptors you come up with!
Your post inspired me, mama. 😉
Those biscuits are cute!
Wasn’t that adorable! Nothing more fun than a personalized cookie. Nom, nom.
Yes, that’s why we don’t trust those snowflakes. That was such a sweet gift for Wilson!
It sure was, Terry. So kind and thoughtful. Wilson being the chow hound that he is, couldn’t have been more excited. Funny how seeing your name on a cookie makes you giddy with excitement. 😉
That’s a very cool treat! We’ve been cold here but very little snow. I’m with you, winter should look like winter.
It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. It’s good to know there are still people who are kind and generous. The National Western Stock Show is going on in Denver and it always is bitter cold during it’s 16 day run. All you can do is put on another layer and wait it out, unless you’re a true blue cowboy and then you’re in heaven.
What a lovely treat for Wilson’s Gotcha Day Monika! A happy new week to you all 🤗💕🐕 xxx
Thank you so much. Good wishes right back atcha for the week!
What a lovely present, Monika. I hope Elsa and Wilson enjoyed the event. Loved the cartoon too. Have a great week.
They enjoyed the treats and were grateful to not have to personally attend to get them. Wilson in particular likes free treats. Happy Monday, John.
Happy Monday back, Monika.
Lucky dogs! 🐕 🐶
Both dogs think they scored BIG time! Happy Monday.
More power to Barkland’s paw! Elsa and Wilson needed a treat to cheer them up in that wintry weather.
Those two chow hounds will never turn down a snack…or three. 😉 We’ll be warming up this week and we’re ready for it! Have a super Monday, Helen.
when it gangs up… so true. Then when it hardens into ice it’s even worse, which is what we have a lot of right now.
the treats look so good… love you wilson
Northern exposure on sidewalks packed down with footprints is the worst. While we’re at altitude, pure solar power isn’t going to magically melt all that white stuff. Stay warm and have a great Monday.
That meme is so true! I didn’t even know what snow was until last Friday!! XOXOX Chia
How wonderful that local bakery saw it was Wilson’s gotcha day and sent that personalized cookie! XOX Xena
I think my paws may still be cold. Lucy
I’ll bet it was quite the shock to the system, Chia. Hang in there, sweet Lucy…we hope your paws defrost soon. Happy Monday.
This is when I’m glad I have cats who go down to the basement and pee in their litter box. My cats are too prissy to enjoy snow. Have a great week.
Until I started shoveling out a ‘pee-tio’ for Elsa, she was somewhat reluctant to go after deep snows. Female dogs shouldn’t have to freeze to potty. Kitties have a good thing going on with the litter box. Makes me wonder how the ferals handle it. Happy Monday!
Not sure how the ferals do it either but animals are very adaptable when necessary.
It’s an occupational hazard for corgis — I have photos of both Darwin and Zoe being swallowed by the snow in similar fashion.
Especially female dogs! I make a point of shoveling out the area where Elsa likes to go. I call it the pee-tio. Happy Monday.
Gracie is only 14 lbs and 4-5 inches of snow would be a challenge for her! Very funny cartoon!
Oh gosh, at that size, it sounds like she needs someone to shovel out a ‘pee-tio’ so she can pee with a dry belly. 😉 Happy Monday!
That’s exactly what we have to do if it snows a lot. Otherwise she would be under the snow in no time!
Female pups need the extra help.
I also hear that her feathers are snowball collectors! 😲 😄
Yup…those ankles are snowball magnets!
Peanut butter treats…lucky pups!
That’s exactly what they thought! Happy Monday, Lisa.
Love the funny. So true.
I’m glad that Wilson had a great barkday.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays.
Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to mom. ♥
Thanks for the link up, Sandee. Here’s hoping you have a wonderful week!
…. And for the links for Barkland. The Red Girls are very interested. Have a blue sky of a week at the ranch.
Thanks, Mike. I always try to promote small businesses and this one would be worthy of a second look. I don’t think the Golden Girls would be disappointed.
I hope all your weather wishes come true! Snow is great for a couple of hours and then usually, at least for me, a bit of a pain. Thanks for sharing the photo of that special cookie – looks good enough to eat! 🙃 –
Snow is good (it keeps our reservoirs filled) but it can become tiresome. So far, we haven’t reached that point. Now the wind and cold…that’s a whole ‘nuther thing. Happy Monday.
We have never heard of that company, but we love the personalized cookie, super cool! A good dog bakery is hard to find, we know that first paw. Have a great week!
They’re a small Colorado biz and I found them at a local event. They contacted us to see if they could send Wilson some Gotcha Day treats. So sweet of them and we couldn’t be happier with their product and professionalism. Having started a treat business a number of years ago, I was very impressed with them, from branding to the finished products. We’ll happily support them! Enjoy a pawsome Monday.
Our dusting turned into freezing rain by about 9:45 Friday night and the morning / early afternoon sun had it mostly melted by about 4 pm on Saturday. And the yard was a sloppy mix of mud, ice, and melting snow. YUCK! It’s meant very little outdoor play time for the Z Kids over the weekend.
Anyway, what a thoughtful gift for Wilson’s Gotcha Day!! And the fact that it was unexpected makes it even more special. If we lived out there, I would definitely keep my eyes open for their events!!
Slushy snow can be murder on dog fur. Hope the Zen kiddos are back to enjoying your yard.
It was such a lovely and generous gesture. We were grateful for the gift and will order treats from them in the future!
The sun has been drying out the muddy slush today, so hopefully it will be mostly dry by tomorrow. We spent about 15 minutes out there twice today and they didn’t get too dirty, so fingers crossed.
Yay, that’s great news. Cabin fever in restless dogs can be…umm…interesting. Good luck!
ooh happy happy gotcha day mr. wilson!!! yay for barkland bakery howe nice is that??
Many thanks. Receiving treats for Gotcha Day was such a lovely surprise. And quite tasty too. Happy Monday.
Lace woven ice. Hah!
What a fantastic gift to get – all the more because it was unexpected. Fabulous start to the week.
I had to chuckle at the positive spin describing those murderers. LOL Happy Monday.
Indeed! Too funny. I’m watching the birth of potential murderers falling so prettily
Here’s hoping the carnage isn’t too bad. Stay warm.
It’s funny because my co-worker and I are of the same mindset. We love snow in winter. I’m hoping to finally get a chance to use my snow shoes!
