Monday Moanings

Morning, sports fans. Hope you had a great autumn weekend. Did your football team do well over the weekend?

Seems I have this little black cloud foreign exchange student following me around these days. Seems like I can never turn around without a certain raven haired beauty shadowing me. I’ve never been a big brother before so this is all new territory for me. Mostly I’ve been pretty good, but sometimes, she just gets too close and doesn’t let me monopolize and guard see my mom. Are all foreign exchange students like that, or just sisters? Remind me again when the semester ends?

Live, love, bark! <3

  1. Sand Spring Chesapeakes – Cambria, WI – My husband and I have six "furry" children Gambler, Glory, Guilty, Slammer, Gertie and one cat Bones and two furangel's Norman and Nellie. We breed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. We are both avid hunters. We also enjoy competing with our dogs in hunt tests and field trials. That is where you can find us during the trial months which are April-September. When were not at a trial we are busy training our dogs. We go snow goose hunting in Canada each year and do all the hunting that Wisconsin offers.

What a great shadow to be following you around

Living in the Denver metro area, we post about dogs, rescue and nature. So grab your favorite beverage and be prepared to howl along with our adventures. And don't forget to bark your 'pup-tacular' comment; we'd love to hear from you.

Bummer on the football loss. Mom says I have to learn to like sports because she’s kind of a nutty fan. Do you know what that means? 😉

  2. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.
    My Golden Life says:

Most younger fur siblings are like that Sam. But that’s okay. While you’re teaching and showing her the ropes, you’ll come to realize she adores you; and soon the feeling will be mutual. At least that’s the way it has worked around here. Even Shadow and Ducky are friends now, despite a little snarkiness once in a while.

She’s becoming my Ninja shadow…always there. Sigh. Hopefully I will learn to to…dare I say it aloud…like her. 😉

  3. Younger siblings can be so very demanding, Sam…it took awhile for me to get used to Arty. We are sure you both will be the bestest of friends after you get to know each other better!

  4. I feel your pain. My little sister is always just over my shoulder . . . or on top of my head. 🙂 And as for our football weekend. It was pretty darn bad. We thought our team had won on a last second touchdown pass. But then the play was reviewed. Turns out there actually wasn’t a last second available to make the miracle play, and we went from elation to despair. The despair only got worse yesterday when our coach–one of the really good guys–was shown the door. We wish him the best and we’ll love and support our team no matter what. As for our 0-2 pro team, we play tonight. Hope springs eternal.

EEK…that was a tough weekend. Bad enough the lit’l sis on top of your head but to suffer those football indignities… We’ll keep our fingers crossed for your pro team.

  5. Hi! Dummie McDumbface here. For the past couple weeks I’ve been waiting on my WordPress feed to let me know you had posted something new. I was all ready to send off a stern missive about your absence. Then I find out that you have been happily writing all kinds of stuff but WP – grrr! – has somehow dropped you off my feed. Anyway, I am so glad to catch up and say hi to the lovely M……, uh Elsa (bro support, ya know). Happy days! On Halloween you can take both Spoos out and tell everyone its Sam and his shadow. Or maybe not.

So glad you figured out we’re still happily around. BTW, I’ve had that same problem in the past too. Oh the joys of technology. 🙃 Glad you guys had a great road trip, I read with interest on the little California town you spotlighted that seems to love dogs. Oh, and Sam wants to know if you would be interested in sponsoring a foreign exchange student for a semester or two? 😉 If she’s still here Halloween, Sam thinks she could go as an evil Ninja and he the long suffering Sensei.

  6. gosh, is she still there? Well, back when I was a Rennaisance Wench another reenactor told me, ” you’d better love it…or you’ll hate it” when it rained on us all day. I never forgot that. Better love her… and she’s unsure of herself. She could even get bored following you soon, and do her own thing. Maybe give her a hobby… I hear squirrel watching is big these days.

  7. Sam, I hate to say it but I told you so! *sigh* I have no advice. Oh! Wait! I have a great idea! Since your mom is such a huge fan of Macy, maybe you can come live with me and Macy can move to your house with your sister? Let me know! *ear licks*

Our team won – GO VOLS! It was an awesome game. We couldn’t watch it all due to traveling but we heard highlights. And yeah, you know these *shadows* will follow us for a while. I guess it’s our way of training them on the coming/going of our world, you know. I know you will do a fantastic job my sweet friend. XOXO – Bacon

Yay for TN! Happy to hear they won. I missed their game completely-awk! Yeah it seems that Sam is already teaching his little sister some naughty habits (chewing of leather shoes) so the upright on the ranch is gonna have to baby proof the house!! 😉

Oh, Sam. The bad news is – the semester NEVER ends. But that’s also the good news! You have a permanent partner in crime, and somebody to take the blame for everything naughty that happens around there.

Thanks, Kona. If they can’t play together, at least Sam will teach her all the bad habits he knows how to do! LOL 😉

  13. Hi Sam,
Are you sure that exchange student is real and you’re not seeing things? When I was
looking at the photo, she was like a ghost drifting in front of a brick wall. Sounds like you need to call Ghost Busters and she could be gone in a jiffy. How are you at using phones?
    Good luck, Sam.
BTW, could you please give your Mom a message? Make sure you don’t forget or chew it up!
I have nominated her for the 3 Day Quote Challenge. My first quote is one I thought she’d like from “Jonathon Livingston Seagull” about the joys of being different.
    Here’s the link: https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2016/09/26/jonathan-livingstone-seagull-three-day-quote-challenge/
Take care, Sam and although you might not want to hear this, your new friend is rather cute.
    xx Rowena
