National Read Across America Day

Today is National Read Across America Day and would have been the 113th birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss where people are invited to host local events to celebrate and promote children’s reading and in honor of all who read, Sam wholeheartedly agrees and is ‘pawticipating.’ Click on this link to join the hop.

Sam here. Oh yessiree..you betcha, I totally support National Read Across America Day. See the Dr. Seuss quote I found. I told mom should use it in our post. And anyone who knows me, knows I definitely follow any direction I choose. Sorry ’bout your shoulder mom, but in my defense, it must be okay because Dr. Seuss told me to do it.

Mom here. Umm, Sam, I don’t think you’re suppose to ‘bogart’ an expression for your self-serving ways. And my shoulder will be just fine so long as I tie your leash around my waist. I have too much ‘ballast’ for you to go gallivanting here, there, everywhere, young man.

Sam: Heavy dog sigh. Oh well, it was worth a shot. We hope you are able to do some great reading today and everyday, and while you’re at it, you should add it to your list of fun things to do for a super weekend. Now why Mom is winking and smiling at some bottle of red liquid on the counter next to her Kindle?

Live, love, bark❣

  1. I totally forgot about Dr.Seuss day. 🙁 And Sam, take it easy on the mom, shoulders are super important to us. Where else would she hang her purse. 🙂

    1. LOL, as if a purse is of ‘impawtance’ to that knucklehead. I should tell him with a bad shoulder the treats won’t be flowing so freely. Maybe then he’d get it…nah…probably not.

      1. The rotten knucklehead knew well,
All those stories Seuss would tell,
        A noun, a verb, a whimsical blurb . .
It was these words to which she fell!

Had to give it my best Dr. Seuss shot, lol.

        1. Quite the ‘best’ effort indeed. I have a rotator issue after compensating for surgery on the other one. It’s so painful and I dread having to go through that same rehab for this one. Sam takes advantage of it. Man is sucks getting old.

          1. Ouch!

And yes, it sure does. When I wake up with no aches or pains, it’s ALREADY a good day, lol.

Well I am sending you my best wishes!

            Peace

            1. Thank you! After a while you get used to the pain but it’s getting to the point where PT isn’t working. I’ve resorted to wrapping Sam’s leash around my waist. I don’t think he considers the ‘ballast’ fair but it helps me out. 😈

  2. BOL Fenris likes to drag Mom around on the leash too, especially when he sees a squirrel.

  3. We sure hope your shoulder will be better soon. Mom says that is one reason she likes our Gentle Leader as they give her the feeling she has a little more control if we start to pull really hard.

Our little bipeds (the grands) all had read-ins at school today. Dr. Seuss is a wonderful day for those who love to read.

    Happy Dr. Seuss Day.

  5. A couple of blog posts is about all I have time to read right now…

“I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!”

See ya later Sam, Elsa, and Monika!

  6. We came back to change our log in to blogger. Years ago before we knew better we did something crazy on a word press blog it set us up
    Madi and Mom (aka Cecilia)

  7. In honor of NRAA Day I think I’ll go over to the rack and read all the labels on those red liquid bottles and see which is first in line for this evening. Have a great weekend out a the ranch. The Golden K got another few inches of snow last night and it’s supposed to snow again all night and tomorrow. We might need to slip in some brown liquid to stay warm while we’re snowed in. 🙂

  8. One of my friends sent a picture of one of her daughters all dressed up for the day – next year, we’ll have to come up with a Dr. Seuss costume for Choppy (and maybe Schooner, but I’m not holding my breath on that one).

  9. A wonderful day to read for its so windy outside that it may blow me away! Happy Reading and Dr.Seuss Day!! 🙂
Hmm..maybe that red liquid is Kool-aid? LOL!

  10. Sam, was that a heavy sigh or a sigh from a heavy dog…I bet I know which one your Mom would say with all the hard yanking of her shoulder! Happy Dr. Seuss Day to all, and to all a good ni…wait, wrong holiday!

  11. Thanks for reminding me that I have a book to read! My grandfather lent me The Constant Gardener a while ago and I’ve yet to read it. Looks like a long one, I better get started.
