~ Tails Around the Ranch

July already? Yikes…hard to fathom the year is half over. Where the heck did those first six months go?

After a mild weekend temperate wise, we’re back into sweltering status along with most people on the East Coast. My advice…take naps, lots of naps. I’ll be there as soon as I drink my coffee. Stay hydrated and enjoy your week.

  1. Ugh, it has been so stinkin’ hot here! I can take it for a bit but we’re in an official heat wave now and I’m getting tired of it already! I’ll just remind myself how little I like Winter….

  8. Sand Spring Chesapeakes – Cambria, WI – My husband and I have six "furry" children Gambler, Glory, Guilty, Slammer, Gertie and one cat Bones and two furangel's Norman and Nellie. We breed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. We are both avid hunters. We also enjoy competing with our dogs in hunt tests and field trials. That is where you can find us during the trial months which are April-September. When were not at a trial we are busy training our dogs. We go snow goose hunting in Canada each year and do all the hunting that Wisconsin offers.

Supposedly, it was only to share my plight as a cancer patient and survivor but over the years it has somehow evolved into something personal about my life and my family. So really glad to have met you all wonderful people out there. Someone commented once that he liked the title of this blog, Dreams and Escapes. Dream on, there are more things in life than we really think. Be happy, you only live once. Sometimes you also need an escape from the vicissitudes of life and this blog helps me cope. Welcome. Feel free to leave your comments, I do welcome them.

  15. Mee-you thee heet wave here was pawfull Sam an Elsa an Lady Monika! Today it tried to rain an it has been cloudy most of the day so thee Humidity came down.
    LadyMum opened thee wind-ohss’ an iss airin our place out. It was like 118. Fairenhite with Hummydex yesterday an LadyMum had Ass-mah attackss so no walk 🙁

  18. CC – Cristina is Italian born, and though she has lived most of her life all over the U.S. she considers herself Italian...she just can't speak it very well! As with many other things, she is working on that (although it's a bit harder the older she gets). Still, there are just so many hours in a day. After leaving the lovely climes of Southern California she went to the heat, humidity, and insect-infested state of Alabama. She struggled for five years to be a "big girl" amidst the crickets-on-steroids, the snakes, scorpions, and other creepy crawlers of the day (and night!). It really is true what they say; "It's a jungle out there!" After another stint in Northern Virginia she is trying once again to find a new normal (as well as some bliss) in her new state, Florida. Cristina is happily married to a loving husband and has two grown children. Her medium-standard poodle love crossed the rainbow bridge in 2023 but he remains forever in her heart.

  19. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.

    Fighting a cold with coffee, ice water, and as little time outdoors as possible. I know the girls love being outside – especially Ducky – but with the heat and humidity, I hate it.
