Norman wants to know, “Is that you, Friday?” Welcome to the last Friday of the month, Norman. What a month this one has been. Apart from our city and now state being fully shut down, the Ranch experienced a typical spring snowstorm last week. The dogs took a vote and have their paws crossed today’s forecast is not a repeat performance. The weatherman has assured them it won’t be (maybe an inch or two with rain), but Norman said he’s not walking in that wet dripping stuff no matter how many treats are in the magic pocket. Whatever happens today weatherwise, it won’t stop us from joining our fur-iends and hosts, Rosy and her brothers from LLB in our Backyard as we share a few looks around to see what nature offers.
For the most part, my garden is assorted shades of brown with tiny pops of color here and there. Last week’s 6-8 inches of white stuff was just the catalyst to give the garden a nice drink of water. Which means, the easiest ‘perennial’ to grow immediately, flowered. *Sigh*
Around the Mile High, social distancing is the rule (though far too many are ignoring it-what is wrong with people?) but I noticed a few flower beds are complying with the latest mandate like these daffodils and crocuses. For the most part still, yellow was the color of the day as shown in these images taken yesterday afternoon, with far more daffodils than anything else.
Our afternoon walk did offer one pretty blast of pink at one of my favorite front gardens with this blooming Pasque Flower which started blooming a couple of days after the snow melted. It’s still a beauty even though it’s about finished.
And because it’s my favorite color, how bout a tiny shot of blue from our front garden and one of the few things blooming in my garden?
Ok, Norman, are you ready to go on your morning constitution now?

In the sea of brown that’s the norm around here, those yellows are a little like snow blindness. Thought I’m not sure I could with a straight face say, dandlelion blindness. LOL 🌼

You knows Ma can’t gets enough of Norman’s handsome mug!!! Ma’s Angel Panda was the same way with the rain ~ she used to have to stand out in the rain with an umbrella over Panda, while she got soaked! BOL! I would make her do the same, butts nows there are canopies over my pee spots, so she got lucky ☺. Those Daffies are beautifuls!!! I do loves the spring blooms! Yours are lookin’ FABulous! I don’t understand people either….who wants to risk catching this nasty thing? We’re having a perfect day for social distancing here, with rain and temperatures barely reaching 40. I don’t mind hunkering down on days like this! We are sticking to all the rules, and if everyone just would maybe this would all be over far more quickly!
I’d be happy to see a dandelion at this point. 🙂 Our daffodils are not growing very fast, so I’m not sure when we’ll finally see blooms!
It really is astounding that some people continue to ignore mandates for social distancing not to mention buying every staple and paper product while their garages are already full to the ceiling with stuff already.
That dandelion was so bright and cheerful in a sea of brown. I’m sure I won’t be as keen seeing them in July. LOL

We’ve had two lovely days in a row, but – shush – don’t tell anyone lest it changes. Ducky’s ear is still healing so no daycare even though it’s still open. Most medical and veterinary facilities operating on a restricted basis; restaurants doing take-out/delivery only; schools closed; grocery stores have reduced hours. Otherwise, restrictions being ignored. Totally. Parking lots at both Home Depot and Lowe’s FULL. Probably Target and Walmart, too. We spend as many hours out in the yard as we can on sunny days.
Isn’t it strange far too many people are ignoring the shelter in place orders and discount the whole thing? I continue to be stunned. Norman and Elsa seem to be enjoying the extra attention (not to mention a decent supply of che bones). Stay healthy and connected and keep smiling. Please give Ducky a nice ear rub from me. I hope the ear is fully healed soon.

Bulbs certainly love what a nice spring storm does for them and most pop back up even after being dumped on. Well except tulips. They don’t seem to like being dumped on. 🌷

We got a bit more than the inch of very wet snow last night but it will be gone today with temps back in the 50’s.
There’s lots more wild violets in neighbors’ yards than I’ve seen before. Wish some of our weeds were violets. I just cut the front lawn for the second time this spring, but only got halfway through this time because the ground’s so wet from rain that it was leaving big divets when I turned. And this from a push mower! Hoping you get some sweet spring weather for the weekend.
So far only about 6 teeny drops but maybe more tonight. 🤞🏻
Oooh, would so love to see wild violets more and wish I knew where to get the plants or seeds. Mowing was one of the main reasons I eliminated all grass at the Ranch and replaced it with ground covers.

I gave up on dandelions ages ago. It was a battle I could never win. Besides, they have that cheery yellow to brighten up the brown landscape and always look smashing coming out of cracks in sidewalks. 😆

with Michigan being the third highest in the nation (as of late yesterday) in cases I am a tad frantic. We are now BOTH not entering ANY stores. Tomorrow Lenny is doing curbside pickup (if we can get the items we ordered)……….it’s pretty scary here in michigan as it is in NY, Louisiana and I think California……..our numbers are skyrocketing daily 🙁 stay safe/healthy

I just finished a long walk. Saw 2 people walking and passed two cars. I was surprised as people don’t listen. We’ve had deaths in our county so maybe people are paying attention. We have daffs blooming and our trees. The early cherry trees are fully open and the pears are ready to go. The maples have that flush of red right before they bloom. This is all early for us. Hoping the weather cooperates. Hugs to Norman (and Elsa). I don’t like walking in wet either.
The gene pool seems somewhat shallow everywhere. Adhering to the rules will make the difference in the amount of time we’re in lockdown and greatly impact how hospitals can provide care to all who need it.
