Purple and the pale blues are my own favorites too. This brown one is so odd in a large corner bed of nothing but the blues and dark purples. From where it came, I have no idea! π Mother Nature’s idea of a prank, I guess!
Your iris is beautiful in its own way!
It wanted to be recognized so it morphed into this new hue…and voila, you saw it, and we all did too. Iris accomplished its goal:)
Thank you. Itβs so weird because that iris bed was planted years before and there werenβt any brown ones. This guy showed up a couple of years ago but have no idea how it happened. π
Those are nice two words and a very nice picture – love the color on that iris. Most of my two word days inclde the word “off” so you’re doing pretty good, I’d say. Scritches.

Thank you. The iphone camera isn’t half bad. That cottage garden is fairly low maintenance-I learned years ago not to fit the lousy Denver soil and lack of water and only plant things that will thrive in both. Let me know if you want some lupine seeds; I’ll drop some in the mail once they’ve started forming over the next few weeks.
WP is acting up a bit on my end. I thought I was responding to Sandee’s comment but it was yours. So sorry. And thanks for ‘going with the flow.’ You’re one cool dude!
Thank you. It’s a fairly unusual color; in fact, I’m not sure from where it came. It showed up a couple of years ago in the midst of all blue/purple irises. I didn’t plant it!
I do love irises, just not this color. They’re so easy to maintain, multiple their numbers and the foliage provides texture to a garden once the blooms are spent. I just wander from where that one came…I would never have planted it-it just showed up several years after that iris corner was planted.
It is definitely original. Funny how it just moseyed its way in! And, good to know they are so easy to maintain. I shall surely reserve a corner for them when I get my front landscape happening. Not yet. Kitchen first!
Beautiful! The colour is just so lovely.
Thatβs very kind of you to say. Thank you ππΌ
I’ve never seen that color Iris before – interesting!
It is an unusual color in irises. Just wish it hadn’t popped up in the midst of the blues and purples. π
Chaplin: “That’s a big flower! Can I eat it?”
Charlee: “NO!”
Unless you’re a bee, you might not enjoy the taste of this flower, Chaplin. π
A lovely Iris. I very seldom see brown Irises. Purple seems to be the favourit. This guy would sure stand out in a sea of purple.

What a beautiful flower
Thank you. It’s rather out of place in the garden since everything leans toward the purple/blue/pinkish hues.
What a beautiful morning it is with the greeting of such a beautyπΈPawkisses for a Happy Day to all of youπΎπ½π
Thanks, Binky. It makes for a quirky surprise in a sea of blues and purples. Enjoy your day; we’re quickly heading for the weekend.
Your iris is beautiful in its own way!

Itβs definitely willful! But thatβs nature for you. π
Pretty… unusual. I was going to ask if you planted it, but I read the other comments. Nature does what it wants. π
Nature has a mind of her own, thatβs for sure. Thanks for the kind words.
Wow, love this!! Great colors and beautiful iris!!
Thank you. Itβs so weird because that iris bed was planted years before and there werenβt any brown ones. This guy showed up a couple of years ago but have no idea how it happened. π
Sooooooo beautiful.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Thanks. It a rather unusual color in bearded irises.

your photos are so good, and this is in your yard! From the yard where we can’t even get grass to thrive, to your sanctuary, thank you for the beauty

BEAUTIFUL! Gods creations are amazing.
Have a fabulous day, my friend. Scritches to the pups and a smooch to Norman. β₯
Nature manages to provide some quite amazing views. Happy mid-week to you from me, Norman & Elsa.
A bee’s dream.
Do bees really like brown when there’s so much purple and pink around?
wonderful color… wish I had such a car ;O)
Living in a mountain desert where too much is tan or brown, I’m not very keen on one more brown thing. But it is a very unusual color.
That iris has a kind of a Halloween feel. I dig it!
It sort of does! Never thought about it until you mentioned it. Henceforth it shall be referred to the Jack-O-Iris! LOL
Unusual but beautiful coloring!!!
Hugs, Pam
Thanks. It IS really unusual. Not my favorite, but still pretty in the early morning.
I agree about favorites – I love those purples – but it’s definitely interesting!! π
Yes, that one almost clashes in my pale blue and deep purple iris garden! LOL
Thanks for the beautiful capture on an early morning, Monika.
Here’s wishing you a great Wednesday.
Thanks, Marco. Happy mid-week to you from me, Norman & Elsa.
π
Argh…where did ‘Sandee’ come??? π€·πΌββοΈ
Buahahahaha!
I’m pretty much a go with the flow individual, so I was like . . okay. π
WP is acting up a bit on my end. I thought I was responding to Sandee’s comment but it was yours. So sorry. And thanks for ‘going with the flow.’ You’re one cool dude!
Impossible! WP is always on its best . . . okay, I couldn’t do it.
No worries. I’ll be Sandee today. But Sandee is going to have to be okay with being Marco today for us to pull this off.
Is it Happy Hour yet?
LOL. Trust me you could do worse. Sandee is a dear kind lady who often makes me smile. Just like you!
MUAH!
Have a great day Monika.
You as well, my friend.
Absolutely gorgeous! π
Thank you. It’s a fairly unusual color; in fact, I’m not sure from where it came. It showed up a couple of years ago in the midst of all blue/purple irises. I didn’t plant it!
Beauty!!
Thanks. Not my favorite but its coloring is unusual. Happy mid-week.
I’m not in love with irises either, but the colour is rather distinct on this one!
Happy Hump Day!

Ooh, a kitchen re-do, eh? Good for you!
If I thought the post office would deliver them, I’d mail you some rhizomes-I need to divide them so they’ll bloom more next year.
A kitchen/living room total re-do! Cannot wait. But have to because what is up with the cost of construction stuff? Good gawd!
Aww, how sweet of you.
I’ve been hearing the prices of materials has skyrocketed. Hopefully prices will settle down; there is certainly a lot of pent-up demand.
It’s completely ridiculous. 30-50% more. I’ll have to wait or be limited to bottom of the barrel stuff. No thank.
Yeah, my brother who has been building his house for decades (no seriously!) was telling me about it. Shocking and maddening!
I actually believe it. I know people who seem to be building forever…
It is!
Oh the stories I could tell you on that one! π But I won’t. #lovemybrother
Hahaha! Love it!
And hey, they are who they are, eh?
