As always, we’re joining those fur-kids from Adventures of the LLB Gang for this weekly blog hop where people from around Blogville share slices of Nature.
This nimble little dude pretty much describes how the weather has been again this week. Up, down and all around throughout this week. It’s enough to make you dizzy.
We’re now well into the season of brown with countless leaves raining down on the landscape pretty much nonstop. Bags and bags full of leaves are primed to be recycled into luscious compost at the city leaf drop. But first, my back needs to chill after all that raking, which still isn’t complete but at least people can see the sidewalk once again.
With the up and down temps, imagine my surprise at seeing some colorful roses when visiting a friend yesterday. I can’t help but wonder how they fared overnight. When we woke up this morning it was a brisk 18ºF degrees. Brrrrrrr. Norman looked at me with an expression that suggested I was out of my mind. That may well be ole chap, but the truth remains, you need to make a pit stop. An audible harrumph may have been heard as he slowly meandered out to the dog run.
I’m always drawn to vibrant hues of pink in roses and this one punched my dance card nicely.
Coming in on the beauty pagent of beautiful roses comes this peachy orange colored one. The fact that it was nicely highlighted in the autumn sunlight also made it worthy to share.
But of the three, I think this one is my absolute favorite. Those beautiful shades of peach, pink and yellow spoke to me, saying it was the belle of the ball. And I had to concede that fact.

Multi-color roses are my favorite. For us, it’s like someone finally realized it’s November and the temperature went from 70 to 30 overnight and is stuck there!

We have cold and light snow, so the roses seem extra pretty since everything here is dead. Winter is coming and that makes us happy as the snow brightens everything up again.
It’s definitely a season of transition so when you see colorful plants like that, you tend to take notice. Enjoy the cold and snow.

WOW….roses…..they’re gorgeous and sure cheer people up to see them this time of year I’m sure! Our weather here has been very weird and we got the “leftovers” that came up the coast from the latest hurricane in Florida which brought a LOT OF rain. We have cold temps one day and warm the next…..confusing! Veterans Day was quiet for us – as always….just remembering those in our families who are veterans and praying for peace at the same time.

It’s definitely been a weird year-weather wise. When beauties like these roses show up in a sea of brown, we totally savor them.
Beautiful roses! They did their best to honor all the vets, because the poppies were not helping out at all…
We thank vets all the year long, they need to know ow valuable they really are, heroes for all of us.
You’re so right-we must honor and respect our vets (several of whom live in our family) every day of the year!
My peep is a vet, not of the Air Force (bird’s favorite) but the Army. Why walk when you can fly high?

I’m always amazed at these late season surprise flowerings. Peach roses are my favorites… or any color with swoon-worthy fragrance!
Agreed though I’ve noticed lately that most recently planted roses no longer have that swoon-worthy fragrance. But at least they’re pretty. 😉 Have a great weekend.

Whoa…while I’m sure the moisture was welcome, the hail was probably as welcome at the 18F this morning. I can honestly say trying to walk two dogs on separate leashes wearing mittens is a stupid idea. Sigh

Any local roses are a big straggly although we’ve had mild weather. October was cold.
They really surprised me given the up/down temps and snow last week. I’ve never had much luck with hybrid roses, only a Canadian shrub rose and a climber that seems possessed. Can’t kill either of them 🙄
All our front yard roses are blooming crazily too!!! I guess they like topsy turvy weather!
