Holiday preparations are in full swing around the Ranch (the kitchen resembled a disaster site this weekend) but hopefully there will be some spare time to be cornered under the mistletoe. Wishing you a pawtastic Monday for precious pupster kisses. If I manage to catch up this week, I’m hoping for some creative holiday photo sessions. Wish me luck. Elsa looked slightly askance when I pulled out some holiday hats. Note to self…make sure the treat jar is extra full of high value treats.

Hahahaha, no doubt about that, Chaplin. Just know that kisses aren’t the worst thing.
That’s how it felt year-round when I used to dog-sit! Not that I’m complaining … it’s just a little different vibe than with cats …
I’m guessing cats aren’t really much into kissing. 😉
Oh Mom and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cartoon……Mom says I’m a pretty good “licker” but I keep her on her toes because while I can be sweet when giving her a kiss, I can also all of a sudden put on the “bitey” !!

Thanks, I think I’ll need more than just luck. I brought out some high value treats along with a couple of props and she hightailed it into the art studio where the light is not optimal. She’s on to me. 😉
My husband is pretty dependable in the mistletoe kiss department, but our dogs aren’t lickers. But then, before Christmas is over, we’ll have a new puppy that may very well give lots of kisses!

Sometimes this time of the year is way too much filled with stress…to get everything ready,m etc, Then I feel like Bah Humbug. It’s good to sit down and relax and to think about why we even have this special time. That’s why I like the way they (used) to do it in the Netherlands, where my parents hailed from…they had Sat Nicholas day for presents and fun things, and then Christmas was a very quiet and Holy Day. When I was young it was still like that among our friends ds and relatives of the same heritage…but over the years St Nicholas Day has faded into the background…and Dec 25 is as commercial in Holland as here.

I know just what you mean. When I normally start getting ready for the holidays the weather was so hot that I had to tend to the garden and then all of a sudden…BAM! it was “oh no…better race around and get things done NOW! It’s all been too much this year and too many other obligations that came first.

Not the slightest. She’s more of a “you’ll pet me and rub my ears” kind of dog for a looong time. 🤣 And if you stop, she’ll happily remind you with incessant nose nudging under your hand till she’s been satisfied.

We give occasional kisses here but we are really a family of huggers. Hugs are always being given to Mom by us and she loves it as is comes with cuddling. Hope you have a Grand week.
Having had therapy dogs for nearly 9 years, ‘kisses’ were forbidden and luckily it never became an issue. Even Elsa has never been much of a licker…her thing is long sessions of ear rubs and petting. I don’t know what I’d do if I had a kisser anymore.
Good luck with that photo session!!! My Gracie is always ready to be photographed, but Ace totally disappears when the camera is out. Carly too.

Yeah, I don’t think about it either although most of my dogs never licked my face (thank goodness). Elsa would never consider washing my face (I’m convinced she thinks she’s too above that) and both Sam and Norman couldn’t as therapy dogs. Still, tongues are probably no worse than hands in the germ department. 🤣
No mistletoe in Costa Rica….but the Thugs aren’t sticklers for tradition…they’ll kiss anyway. And as for the kitchen…how the blazes did I run out of baking powder without noticing?

One of my friends has a face licker pup. I have to be careful. She’s a small sweet dog but her tongue is very slobbery!
Elsa is not a kisser, in fact I can’t remember if she’s ever licked my face. She will however insist on long sessions of ear rubs. 😉

Gotta love being considered always under the mistletoe. The kitchen here was in disarray this weekend due to being a staging area for dispensing indoor decorations throughout the house, but next week it will askew because of actual food preparations for the Holidays!
I know of what you speak. I’ve been up to my eyeballs in biscotti dough and brownie pops…making multiple trips to the grocery store for ingredients that I was sure were in the pantry but then weren’t (note to self-get an eye exam…STAT). Then there’s the ongoing production line of hand painted Christmas cards. Don’t recall it taking that long in the past but then I usually started making them in September. It’s my own doggone fault, but still…I’m getting too old to maintain this crazy pace. Good thing there’s ‘mistletoe.’
