Welcome to Monday where we always start out the week with a smile. If you missed us last week, there’s a perfectly logical explanation. Elsa and I needed to make a whirlwind trip to Missouri and we’re still recovering from that. Be sure to come back later this week for an exciting announcement. But first…on to today’s smile.
Returning to Colorado Saturday evening, nature decided to ‘gift’ the region with a few presents…snow, cold and wind. The National Western Stock Show over last weekend which typically translates to cold temps. Well it IS January so I guess that should be expected. December was fairly mild so it has been a bit of an adjustment, following the recent warm temps Today’s smile describes Elsa to a tee. This girl is the Goldilocks when it comes to pottying. “This spot is isn’t level, this one has leaves, this one the ground is too compacted…” I think you get the way her mind works. While the ‘pee-tio’ is mostly dirt with some mulch and gravel with a flagstone pathway at the gate to mitigate the mud with a bordering sidewalk next to house, there’s just no way grass will last with dogs so I always shovel out an area where she normally relieves herself to prevent the snow from clinging to her legs, belly and nether regions. Invariably and unless I do the entire run which covers the length of the house and then some, this is precisely her reaction. I thought it was just a quirk of hers but apparently it’s a thing.

We hope you are able to conduct whatever business you need to easily this week. Stay safe and warm and be sure to join us later in the week after we’ve had some time to decompress and catch up from the whirlwind trip.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
There’s a graphic at work for the new Barbie display that just went out that shows Barbie (or at least, her feet) walking about ten dogs at the same time…….
While wearing roller skates!!!!
Can you imagine?
Every time I walk by it I think of your dog walking stories….
Oh my…perhaps Barbie dogs are like Barbie…perfection. Not really, but how else can you sell it? 🤪
Elsa knows how to pick her spots and I respect that.
Pick…more like picky 🤣
Hahaha!
Petcretary shovels out paths in the grassy areas, but invariably we just go on the not shoveled out concrete patio…or the sidewalk. BOL!
Bwahahaha. If I don’t do the entire dog run, Elsa takes that same approach. Gotta love it. 😂
Gracie does her potty dance, which is walking in circles getting bigger, smaller, bigger, until she finds the right spot. It can take forever at times. An inquiring minds want to know if the trip to Missouri involved bringing home a dog???
Aww, sweet Gracie-she sounds a lot like Elsa. These girls are so particular about their potty spots. As for the trip details…stay tuned. 😉
Lulu: “It’s important to do your business in the right location. It’s a whole jurisdictional thing, kind of like why all the companies incorporate themselves in Delaware.”
Hahahaha…so THAT’S why, eh? Ok, I can buy that.
Benji has no such nicities – he goes when he needs to go – he has no particular spot and he likes to pass his love around.
Male dogs seem much less persnickety about those kinds of pleasantries. The Ninja is without a doubt, the most picky of any female I’ve ever known! She takes it to a whole ‘nother level.
Spotting your captivating post on the WordPress feed brought a smile to my face, prompting me to reach out and say hello!

Yes, totally understand that “dog” thinking. It lasts until they simply can’t hold it any longer and have to create a “new” spot.
So, are you getting another dog????
Stay tuned. 😉
So glad snow is a rare thing here. Twiggy would drive me nuts.
Snicker. You get used to it but it’s hard when the notion to go outside strikes at 3:00 AM. LOL Happy Monday, John. Please give Twiggy an nice ear rub from us.
Thank you Elsa and Monika.
At least snow is not one of our hazards….I remember when it snowed in France our little Batman had to have a whole track cleared to reach his chosen spot….nowhere else would do. Looking forward to your news.
With all the things dog process on a daily basis, it just seems really fascinating they can be very picky about something so simple.
You want picky? All the thugs bar one eat grass when their tummies are upset. The bar one? Mr. Darcy. He eats the lemon grass in the pot on the balcony. Talk about entitled!
Snicker…I can just imagine that image!
Milo squatted this morning in our bit of snow. I remember my girl Chelsea, when we moved to Maryland from Florida and she saw snow for the first time. She could not bear to squat in it so my then new husband shoveled a path for her.
Milo has an unfortunate aim for pee and often it gets on a front leg. What the heck?? I trimmed his furs after yesterday’s bath, even though it was to be cold (finally) this week I trimmed those legs because they not only get peed on they hold too much snow. In deeper snow he must come in and thaw to avoid snowballs on the floors!
LeeAnna
That’s another reason I shovel out the entire back area…snowballs. All of my knuckleheads would race in and jump on the sofa! Hoping you’re staying warm this week-it’s Stock Show and always cold or so it seems. There are many who say it’s just coincidental but during Stock Show it seems colder than any other time of winter. Not much snow here today and fairly clear skies now.
I can’t wait to hear about your trip! It’s a losing game to potty train a tiny puppy in cold, windy, snowy weather! I can’t wait to show pictures about a recent whirlwind trip by my husband.
Ooooh, squeals. Can’t wait to hear about your trip!
Our comment seems to have disappeared. We don’t want to try to write it again. Maybe is it hiding somewhere?
Sometimes WP is slow. Maybe it’s the cold rolling through. Your comment showed up. It’s frustrating when you’ve typed a comment and it doesn’t show up. Sorry.
None of us are picky about where we go for any of our business. Mom has never had a dog that was picky. She never shovels for us either. Even with over a foot of snow, we have to make our own paths by trampling back and forth. It’s a hard life we have! Did you know we are all from Missouri? Our breeder is up by Hannibal, MO, and Nelson goes to Purina Farms for dog shows sometimes 🙂 Maybe you are getting a GBGV? Wait, she has a litter of Fauves now, but I don’t see you liking a dog that small 😉
😉 Missouri is home to so many breeders. I’ve been rather shocked at number of listings on FB that show up in my feed. We were in the Garden City area, about 50 miles south of Kansas City.
Yes, you were missed! Great to see you again,, and LOL on the comic about Princess Elsa. 🙂 Or should I say Queen Elsa?
Eager to hear the big news! Happy Monday to you both!
Aww, you’re too sweet. I had sooooo much going on, posts had to take a back seat. It’s gonna take several days I suspect until I’m all caught up but that’s how life goes sometimes. We’ll just have to roll with it.
Yeah with Elsa being a bit of a ‘Tomboy’ one would think she wouldn’t be so particular. That girl surprises in multiple ways! Happy Monday.
No rush! Yes, rolling with it is the best thing to do. 🙂
Haha about Elsa, she keeps you on your toes!
Like most Queen Bees, she knows what she wants and is relentless in getting it!
You have the Sheldon of dogs! My cats are quite happy with their indoor litter box!
I’ve never seen a dog so particular about where she potties. It’s almost comical…well except at 3:30 AM when it’s 10 degrees. LOL
another pup? looking forward to the update next week?
i do love your monday smiles – thanks.
Not admitting anything just yet. We think it’s important to start the week out with a smile since invariably there’ll be some ups and downs during the week. At least if we can start out smiling, the downs may not be so bad. 😉 Happy Monday.
Haha i love the cartoon! Chester will walk in rain, snow or anything, but still sniff every single spot before he potties! Meanwhile his humans are standing in the rain waiting. Honestly, i guess it’s important!
I know, right?! I guess there’s a reason for them being so particular but it escapes me when it’s in the middle of the night on a cold winter night!
Good job Elsa! Gotta keep those humans on their toes!
xoxo,
Rosy and Sunny
Awk…don’t encourage her. LOL Happy Monday.
HAHAHAHA!!! Way to keep Miss Monika on her toess!!! Mew mew mew…….
~~~head rubss~~~BellaDharma~~~ an {{{hugss}}} BellaSita Mum
I’m too old to be on my toes all the time! Hahaha! Happy Monday.
Yore NOT too old Miss Monika! You just wunderfull 😉
💙
“X marks the spot”…until it doesn’t suit. Then we move on to Y, Z…eventually the choice is deemed spot-on. Have a good week, Elsa and Monika!
So true. If only those spot-on places came at a reasonable hour when the temps weren’t hovering around 0. LOL Happy Monday, Bruce.
Ha, my spouse snow-blows a path all around the house… I just roll my eyes. 😉
Well I can imagine her whoo-ha appreciates not being frosted when she needs to go. But there should be a quicker way to pick the spot! Have a great Monday.
I laughed at the graphic, but I get the needing the right spot to go. Our Angel Little Bit would not potty in the snow. No way. We had to drive out of the mountains and find a snow free area for her to go.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays. Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to Elsa. ♥
Ssssh…don’t give Elsa any ideas! LOL Thanks for the link up, Sandee. You’re always to kind. We appreciate it. Have a super Monday.
Such a discerning and refined lady your Elsa is. If only my girls were so lady like. One of Koda’s fertile tendencies is to immediately pee on top of wherever Kloe peed. She can be 50 yards away but if she sees Kloe peeing she will run over get behind her to “wait her turn”, and then pee; even if she just peed 30 seconds before.
Looking forward to your upcoming announcement! I do have a guess so waiting with great anticipation…
Yeah, I figured most people will put two and two together and figure it out. Sam was that way. He’d pee and see that Elsa peed and go pee over it. She’s so funny, it has to be the absolute best spot, otherwise she will circle 15 times before doing her business. When it comes to peeing, it has to absolutely be the perfect spot, otherwise no dice. 🙄 Happy Monday, Mike.
Will do and you too!
I’ve heard that is how dogs show dominance over one another. Is that true with your girls?
Hi Amy. Maybe… Koda is very competitive and shows jealousy when Kloe is getting attention. But in the end Kloe is the Alpha and Koda follows her cues. So I think it’s more competition than assertion of dominance…
Happened upon your post on the WordPress feed and just wanted to drop by and say hello ! Your content caught my attention, and I’m excited to dive into more of your captivating posts. Thank you. The follow button is in the column on the right side. We look forward to your return. And thank you for swinging by; we 💙 visitors
Your story about Elsa sounds a lot like our Ted. He finds a spot – digs around – squats – changes his mind – finds another spot – digs around – squats (well you get my drift!). Decisions – decisions! We had ZERO snow from the storm that came up the East Coast this past weekend (supposed to get 2-3 inches), and tonight and tomorrow we have similar predictions for more snow, sleet, rain and wind. I guess Winter has caught up with us but isn’t entirely sure she wants to behave as “predicted”! Stay warm – can’t wait to hear your EXCITING NEWS!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy The Indecisive
Oh my gosh, they could be twins! Too funny. A big storm from the PNW arrived but it’s been somewhat of a fizzle snow accumulation-wise but we’ll see what the day brings. So far on an inch or so. 🤞🏼
The cold was a shock to us, too. It’s warming up this week but I won’t get too excited…
Elsa is rather persnickety, is she not? 😉
There’s cold wind blowing but so far not nearly the amount of snow that was predicted. Persnickety barely covers describing Elsa. LOL
Glad the cold has given us a break, quite frankly.
LOL… Poor Ninja 😉
Trust me, she needs no sympathy when it comes to finding the perfect spot.
Oh, I hear you…. I meant it with a touch of sarcasm…
😉 Me too.
😉
