Monday Musings

Hello everyone, it’s me Elsa…fabulous Ninja sister to Sam. I stole the blog from my naive brother by flipping a coin for it. Unfortunately he lost. I won (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah). Anyway, even though I won the coin flip gotta love those two sided coins, I promised it would only be a short post.

My mom complains says I’m too hard to photograph because I’m a black dog. Even in a well lite location my gorgeous facial features disappear especially if my fur is a little long. So after she whined about not being able to see my face yet again when I was chillin’ yesterday, I told her I would fix it. Well, what do you think?

As you can tell we had a nice relaxing weekend, how about you? Do anything exciting?

Live, love, bark! <3

  1. Hahaha. Poor Elsa. I have a hard time getting a good picture of Tippy too. The fact that she does have some brown on her face helps a lot.

    1. She’s working on something but it might take several days. Since my brother has to go to the hospital this week and mom has to drive him, it may be next week before we can share it. 🙂
      Your fur-iend,
      Elsa🐾

  3. Hahahaha….good idea! I have the same problem with Luke. He’s black and white but photos would be easier if his face was the white part, not black! Now we know what to do. 🙂

  4. We like you best as is, Elsa … but that picture is nice in its own way! I went to the BlogPaws conference last year and the lady running the workshop on photography said it’s best to photograph dark subjects on a dark background. It seems counter-intuitive, and I’m not entirely sure it’s true … but maybe it will help you 🙂 Bear is dark too and we get no natural light in our unit so I’m forever editing pictures to death.

    1. Mom had professional photos taken at Christmas with a dark background and even the photographer said it’s hard to get any highlighted details on dark colored dogs. I was even laying in front of the sunny window with a doorway open letting some light in. I’m just a Ninja, first and always. 😇

  5. Good morning Else. Oh those Beautiful eyes. Our dog Sammy is black and his brother Bear is golden, similar to your family only not poodles. 😎

  6. Silly girl! You black pups ARE difficult to photograph well! Ducky had such a cute expression on her face last night, and I couldn’t capture it…so disappointing!

  7. Hi there Elsa – well done on the coin toss. I wont tell Sam – I know nutting! Didn’t really do anything exciting on the weekend. We went out for a bit of a drive, but stayed away from the Beach – too many people and dogs at the weekend. Much better weekdays. So, how you settling in? I hope Sam is treating you ok and being the Gentledog he usually is. Ok short reply, lovely to hear from you – hope everything is well.
    From us all
    John, Benji and The WaWa

    1. I’m doing pretty good and Sam is treating me well. He’s even playing with me a little on occasion. Sorry you guys didn’t get to the beach but know all about the weekenders. Mom stays away from them too. Give Benji a nose nudge from me and let me know if the Wa-Wa mistreats him. 😇

  8. Elsa, you sure do have dreamy eyes. 🙂 Black dogs really are hard to photograph. It helped that Lexi had the silver eyebrows. Hey, maybe some well-placed highlights?
