Welcome to Monday. As I was looking for a smile to share, I came across this cartoon. My dogs cannot fathom spending too much time with me. They make sure it’s in the tightest of quarters just to keep things interesting. In my small, narrow galley-style kitchen, Norman apparently thinks I need tightrope walker training by ‘encouraging’ me to navigate around him while cooking. Having this dog means your joints get well lubricated as you high-step over him.

I love it! Luke mostly sticks close by me, especially if I’m in the kitchen, but once in a while he gets the urge to just go off on his own, to the upstairs spare bedroom (which we call “his” room)! 🙂
Mooooooove Plea…….se! or scusie! are often uttered words around here too.
Same thing around our house. And what do I get in return…a blank look as if I said something in Yugoslavian or something. Dogs!

BOL!!! OMD, Ma says she remembers this too….Angel Panda used to lay down pressing against her leggies! She said that it was the passive-herding technique of the OES! BOL!! I don’t knows, I sometimes likes to do it too…if there is chicken in the kitchen that is! 😉

That cartoon puts a smile on my face! (Except when I think of my German Shepherd trying to herd me out of love and affection. In his mind, he’s taking care of me, but sometimes I just gotta move around the house!

The litchen here is large but there is generally one of them lying over one of my main tracks when working. Black Tot likes to lie in front of the oven in the hope that i will drop whatever it is she is hoping for when i open the door.
Norman tries to ‘help’ out with meal preparation by auditioning as a food taster. And with his wide body blocking doorways, it’s always an adventure getting around him.
Hmm … now, see, regarding kitchens, my cats are nearby when food is out – but they disappear when it’s clean up time or wash the dishes time. But Bear passed his bad habits of laying in the middle of the floor to Ellie.

Definitely can relate. “You’re underfoot” is heard several times daily from the Alpha Japanese Female while in the kitchen. I, of course, only go into the kitchen to get a beer or eat a meal so it doesn’t bother me much.
“Indaway” is uttered at least 200 times a day around the Ranch 😉
Around the kitchen here it’s “Chotto Oide!” which is basically “move it” in Japanese.
Maybe she’s talking to/about you and not Max. Bwahahaha.
Lucy always stretches out in the kitchen during meal prep. I swear it’s going to cost me a hip one of these days.
A broken bone(s) or a concussion is no doubt in my future too. I always thought I’d go nobly but truth is I’ll probably be found with a spoon of frosting in my mouth with the dogs gathered ‘round me wondering why am I lying on the floor 🤣

Whenever I’m cooking Walter is never far away but he’s learned how to react quickly to get out of my way if I don’t realize he is right behind me when I move.

Except for the two short times in my life when I haven’t had a dog, I’ve been stepping over and around them since before my 5th birthday. And I wouldn’t change it for the world. 🐾😍🐾

They sure are and it’s one of the many reasons why we love them so.
Love that ‘toon and cats do the same danged thing. I have a roomy kitchen but Ted silently sneaks up and stands RIGHT BEHIND me wherever I am and sooner or later of course I try to move and once in a while I step on his little paws. I hate doing that. I try to remember to LOOK before I walk but sometimes………well…..you know!

That’s how our dog got his name, Ninja! I was doing the dishes when we first adopted him and this 68 pound dog was all of a sudden right under my feet. How can you miss him? But he is sneaky and such a Ninja!

I feel your pain! I have a similarly tight area where I prepare the girls’ meals and I feel like a pin ball bouncing off of them as I (try to) move from spot to spot. At least Koda and Kloe lay mostly prone in wait, but Kali follows each step head butting me along the way. God I love these girls! Happy Monday to you and the Ranch Hands.
