Wordy Wednesday

Spring is just around the corner and since snow has passed the Ranch by [again] we thought we might as well jump on the bandwagon and embrace what’s coming. I found this image that made me smile about spring’s pending arrival. Someone, who has too much time on their hands, took topiary to the dogs.

Sam and I will be working at a new facility over at the hospital today, a treatment center for substance abuse. We’ve never visited there before and are not sure what to expect but are excited and looking forward to another day of sharing smiles and tail wags with patients. Hopefully we’ll have good stories to share later. Happy mid-week.

Live, love, bark! <3

  1. I just saw something similar in a catalog (with fake greenery), and thought it was so cute! We’ll only be dreaming of spring here for the next week!

  2. That topiary is super cute. (Fun fact… my sister’s cat’s name is Topi, short for Topiary.) Looking forward to hearing your tales from the new place!

  3. Good luck at the new area in the hospital. I hope everything goes well, but where Sam is concerned, I’m sure it will. The topiary was interesting but I found the “Best in Show”poodle more interesting. I really liked that.

  4. Mee-you that iss SUM Edward Scissorpawss doggie there! LadyMum iss berry impressed bye it….

  5. That looks like the perfect addition to your family–pretty low maintenance except for the “grooming”! Good luck with the visit today. I know you and Sam will do great and that you’ll bring so much joy to everyone you meet.

  6. The topiary sure shows off the magnificent form of a dog! I’ve never had substance abuse issues, but I bet the patients will love seeing Sam. Even now, years into my recovery from anorexia, petting Bear Cat still helps me get in touch with myself and what I’m feeling. Not to mention that his closeness is tolerable to me, while most people are not. I also think that loving animals helps people learn compassion and love for themselves 🙂

    1. I’ve always appreciated topiary so finding this specimen was especially cool in my books! Im working on a post about our experience, not sure I know how to put things into words, but your last sentence rather sums it up nicely.

  7. Love that poodle shrub! Someone is very talented and creative! Hope your hospital visit is successful:)

  8. Look forward to hearing about Sam’s latest adventures. Was actually reading an article not that long ago about how few in-patient treatment centers allow pets, something that experts think would help people in recovery.

    1. Had a very interesting conversation about that with some of the staff. They all are very supportive of dog visits and certainly all the residents were super excited with Sam’s visit.

  9. Cute. Good luck with the substance abuse center. I’m sure Sam will bring some much needed smiles, comfort, and unconditional love to them.

  10. I want that topiary. With my luck it would start to look all bedraggled and have stray branches poking out in weird places.
good luck at the hospital. Someone coming off dependency will really need comfort.
