With the whole world struggling and stumbling in darkness, it’s far too important not to be a part of this movement, now in its 19th year. Right now there’s too much listening to the loudest voices yet we don’t have to watch people stumble or be confused in the dark. We can make a concerted effort to add light so that people everywhere can Hold the Light for others. This is not about trying to convince them to follow your beliefs, there’s enough of that already. With each opinion, the noise gets louder but the peace doesn’t become more possible. It’s possible to love people without agreeing with them.
Mimi Lenox created Blog4Peace and explained it like this:
When I was a little girl, my Dad worked on cars and faucets and mechanical issues around the house. He could fix anything. I was his “light holder.” I wasn’t very good at it and sometimes he’d fuss if the caged light I was holding swerved to the left or the right. Why was he frustrated with me? Because I had one job. ONE JOB. And that job was to hold the light for him. His task was daunting. It was dark and he was weary. He needed to SEE. I couldn’t see what he was seeing and I certainly couldn’t help him; but I could stand steady and still, listening to his voice and directions, offering illumination and support. He didn’t need a play-by-play of why I couldn’t hold the light still or what my opinion was about how he was fixing things. My opinion, my argument, my sass…didn’t matter.I had one job. He couldn’t do the job without me and that light. You don’t have to speak to hold it – just hold it. You don’t have to expose or uncover or guide or judge the path they have chosen. You just have to be there and let them find their way. AND SOMETIMES….holding a Light means railing against injustices and CHANGE that needs to happen! Your words won’t help them see but the unconditional silent steady light and TRUTH flowing from you to them held without judgment without opinion without directions means that the one needing light has a clear path to make decisions one that isn’t muddied with your opinion, your “rightness” or the loudest voice whether they’re fixing a carburetor or mapping out a plan for world peace or choosing the leader of the free world. The most powerful words of all are the ones we deliver in deed. Sometimes that means standing still and holding a Light.
As we hold the light today, we still want to share a Monday smile and this one seems to be timely. I know…groan.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
Keep the lighthouse burning!
Java Bean: “Ayyy, that’s one way to pile up the leaves I guess!”

Things are pretty chaotic these days; we hope the light casts the darkness away. Glad you enjoyed the smile. We all need them as much as we need light. 😻
We loved to read this, Monika. This is what life’s all about💗Thank you for the smile too😹Double Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahad to you and the doggies too🐾😽💞
Totally our pleasure and honor to be part of the Blog4Peace initiative. And we’re glad you enjoyed the smile to start out the week.
We Love this! Thank you. And thank you for giving a us a little giggle too xoxo Little Miss Titch
Thanks, Rachel. We felt it important to be part of this important campaign and glad you enjoyed a little autumn giggle.
Without light we all stumble and fall, and get hurt. Even a tiny light in the darkness shines ever so brightly, as a beacon towards the way out of that darkness.
Keeping the light shining is more important now than ever before.
Thank you for holding the light for peace on this blog and in your daily life. Your post is inspiring and we are honored to have you with us.
Peace to you and yours!
Many thanks for your reply and for hosting. It’s even more important today than ever (and thank you for swinging by-we 💙 visitors, especially those who work to light the way).
Nice peace post. XO
Thanks. I think this campaign is more important than ever.
Holding the light of kindness is a beautiful way to see the US through the coming days, weeks or years.
We have to do something. The current trajectory isn’t working.
A most beautiful post and I laughed out loud with the funny at the end. Well done.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to you. ♥
Thanks, Sandee. Glad you enjoyed it. It’s too important not to try to do something positive these days. And enjoying a smile is always a must. Hoping you have a great week, Sandee.
A beautiful post Monika, we can all continue to hold the light for each other 💖💫 xxx
Thank you very much, Xenia. This is too important not to be a part of.
Great story and post, Monika. Holding the light is the least we can do.
Thank you, John. And it’s more important than ever these days.
Yes it is. (sigh)
Such a beautiful message, we must do it together, always. Hey, loved that funny too!
A beautiful message we can all accomplish if we only try. It can’t be that hard!
Glad you loved the funny-it sure made me chuckle since I could totally relate!
Some people underestimate the power of holding the light for another.
Wonderful post, Monika.
Thanks, Dale. The creator’s post really spoke to me and I loved her background story. It’s making me think about how I can ‘live’ this going forward.
Yes. I think it is a gift we give ourselves when we gift others with simply holding the light for them. It’s a beautiful thing.
So beautifully put, Dale!
Thank you, Monika. Sometimes I surprise myself 🙂
Thanks for holding the light. May it beam upon the election and scatter the darkness.
Thank you-we wish the same for you and yours.
May your day and week be filled with peace.
Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to the pups. ♥
Peace and love to you and yours, Sandee.
I’m glad you joined, it’s definitely bringing us together as a blogging community. I’ve personally given up trying to politics online, it’s too discouraging. Instead of discussing my beliefs, or giving advice, I’m trying to let my actions be a guiding light…not sure if anyone ever notices, but I’ll continue as we don’t help others for the recognition.
Thank you. Yes, there’s nothing to nourish the soul on the ‘Net when it comes to politics. Actions speak so much louder than words.
Thanks, Monika, for including that commentary from the origin of this day. It made a lot of sense. And love the autumn car, too!
Happy to share positive messages like that. I had to look it up and as I read about the whole movement, it seemed only nature to share. Here’s hoping all is well with you and your autumnmobile this week. 😉
Thank you for your post. We all need a little less yelling and lot more peace today.
Amen! So much less yelling, more listening. And constructive working to resolving differences. We have to stop the cycle of hunkering down in our respective bunkers. Thank you for swinging by the Ranch…we 💙 visitors.
We have an autumn garage! Even though there are no trees near it, the garage attracts leaves. Tomorrow sigh. We must go through it to get on the other side no matter what that is. At a minimum I’ll be relieved to stop hearing political ads.
After I found that smile, I watched a good breeze over the weekend zoom in to my own garage-specifically the gutters. Ugh…guess I’ll be dragging out the all ladder to clean them out now. The campaign ads can’t stop soon enough for me. The more competitive the district, the more the ads run…over and over again with each network break. Makes you just want to scream. With all the money being spent this cycle, I am heartsick at all the good that money could have done.
🙁
Yes! Holding the light is so important. I loved this piece! Thanks for sharing, my friend. ❤️ So timely right now!!
And yes, I groaned about the car. LOL!
Thank you. It’s more important than ever. And for the record, I ‘heard’ your groan. Ironically I groaned too but then I smiled. Happy Monday.
Haha! I am sure you did hear it. But yes, I still did smile. 🙂
Yay!!
Thank you for the “Monday Smile”, gave a big smile on an otherwise nervous/anxious “day before the day” as we also Hold The Light and hope for peace among all in the days to come no matter how this election unfolds … for some will feel quite good and others not at all. But hopefully it can be accepted. And on another note, your beautiful autumn header also made us smile as Mother Nature always brings hope, doesn’t she?
It’s a very fraught time with potential consequences moment, Ann. We keep praying for sensible reactions. Elections always have winners and losers. I just pray the losers recognize that and stay peaceful and respectful. 🤞🏼
P.S. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. It was breezy and I watched a jillion leaves float into all the house & garage gutters. Time to get out the big ladder, I guess.
We’ve joined the movement too – holding the light and believing it can STAY lit !
Love, Pam
p.s. We have one of those Autumnmobiles too! 🙂
We’re praying hard we can keep that light brightly lit. I know just what you mean about the autumnmobile. I didn’t get my gutters cleaned out before it started to rain/snow this morning so that’ll be a lovely mess to tackle. Have a great Monday.
Many ways to find and follow the light. Thanks for sharing the story and sharing an example we can all strive to live up to. Peace to all. ✌️☀️
Thanks, Mike. Yes, we all have to strive to do our part. Happy Monday.
Thanks for the smile. Humor is so healing.
Peace and light to you and yours!
Thank you for swinging by. Peace and light right back atcha!
Love your header watercolor! And very nice piece from the fellow blogger. We may all need to hold up strong and steady lights after this election especially, ’cause there are going to be a lot of unhappy people no matter the result.
Thanks, Debra. Indeed…people seem to have lost sight of the fact there is always a winner and a loser in elections. I just pray both sides accept the results and work together to repair the fractures that seem more numerous this cycle than ever before.
I’m totally with you on that. Not optimistic that folks with accept whatever happens, but hopeful.
Hope springs eternal.
Cheers to you.
And right back atcha!
That’s a lovely header.
I think there are a lot of people in the world holding a light for peace…ordinary people who wish no harm to come to others whatever their differences in culture, in politics, in beliefs……but the criminals making money from war and terror can and do disregard us all.
Thanks, Helen. I think you nailed it. It’s heartbreaking how those forces continue to divide us and politicize our differences. Happy Monday.
Thank you for your touching post. Peace in this world is the most important thing we need. We here, in Finland, are so near the war in Ukraine, about 70 000 refugees here,.and nobody is saying the word peace, nobody is trying to stop the war.
It’s so heartbreaking…with these horrible wars and people suffering.
we love this story… and you are right … to hold the light can be important… and we are a part of it… and we helped to do something good..
It’s such an important time. We all must try to change the direction of the world by shining a light for all those who want to see. 💙
Love this, Monika… and yes, I’m holding my Light up high and steady! 💛
Thanks! Glad you’re part of this incredible movement.
